This park is always so much fun and has been around since I was a kid too!
Plenty of green space, benches and tables. I pretty creek running along the edge of the park and a 2 story playground. Playground: 3 story playground - not everyone accessible Restrooms: No restrooms Picnic area: Yes, plenty of picnic tables
Valley of the moon park is a great destination in the Anchorage area. Here’s what I loved about it. The playground structures offered a variety of different types of play for children. Not only that, but they are slightly spread out to eliminate crowding. In addition to the structures, the park provides hosts a large field, a walking trail that connects to the Chester creek trail, and the sweet sounds of Chester creek babbling by. Unlike other parks in Anchorage, this park was devoid of vagrant squatting.
Last week you were 17 dogs in the run area with about 15 owners. It was a lot of fun. Dogs were having so much fun playing. Playground: They have jungle Jim’s, , and things like that and slides Dog-friendliness: There’s almost an acre of property just for the dog run Picnic area: I believe there’s multiple gazebos in BBQ And you could always bring your own tent
Popular place when the weather is nice! Lots of families mostly younger kids, dogs, walkers, and bikers. Restrooms were locked at the time but there were portapotties. Amenities included: Fenced in dog park, playground, open grass area, exposed and sheltered picnic tables, benches, paved walking / biking paths. Part of the path runs along side a quickly-moving, but shallow creek. There were some homeless tents and discarded alcohol containers along the wooded part of the path. Otherwise, the area felt safe and clean during the day. There is a medium-sized parking lot but it was nearly full when we were there on a weekday summer afternoon. Playground: Large, maintained grass area and climbing jungle gym with slide and swings. Restrooms: Bathroom building was locked, but portapotties were available. Dog-friendliness: Lots of dogs around park. All were either on leash or very well-behaved. Fenced in dog park available one area, not divided for small vs large dog Picnic area: Both sheltered covered and exposed uncovered, out in the open picnic tables available.
For such a small Park, it has an excellent dog park. There is a shelter for having a picnic lunch. There's even a groomed circular track for practicing cross country skiing... Great place to start off an inner city trail hike
Gorgeous park with some great climbing equipment for the kids, plenty of space and beautiful flowers. Definitely recommended.
No filters on photos! Great for birthday parties and get togethers. Fun for kids. The rocket it metal I would make sure that kids are clothed and makes sure no metal going to scrap or cut any children. Playground: Great size for kids to run around and have fun, and also the rocket is made out of metal so I'd make sure to have your kids wear long sleeves Restrooms: Took out the porta potties for winter I believe. It would be nice to have while playing at the park or having get togethers Dog-friendliness: Has a great fenced in area do you play with your dogs and have them run around. Picnic area: Clean, wish they had grills.
Great park! Lots of open space and decent sized parking lot. It would be nice if they had more than one BBQ area, as there were 6 or 7 groups that wanted to, but one large group had the area filled, so several groups were bbqing in the parking lot. Still a great park!
Near a lovely shallow creek and beautiful rose "garden"; however, no water fountain. Beautiful trail to hike and three areas to play.
