This gallery was a nice surprise to stumble upon. The art is curated very well and is phenomenally fantastic to enjoy; such a visual sweet treat. Some of the pieces were very moving and were almost bringing me to tears at some point. The gallery was organized and very clean looking. This is for sure a great spot in East Village to check out some art in between stops for food and fun.
Spacious, well lit and uplifted gallery with an eclectic collection and frequent group exhibitions.
Van Der Plas Gallery is a great place in the LES to enjoy a variety of artworks. I really loved visiting and attending the reception for their current exhibition.
Adriaan the gallery owner has such a great passion for art and the art community and this passion is tangible in the curation of this space. If you are a fan of colorful and expressive works, street art, and the work of both established and emerging artists, I highly recommend stopping by the gallery. They frequently put on new shows so there's always something exciting and refreshing going on.
What a pleasure! Open and easy going! The artwork was stunning and inspirational. A great New York experience!
LES gallery party staple. Art is VERY GOOD. Hipsters, BLM, old timers, all meeting there. Security making sure all vacvinated inside. #nyc is mask optional but locals, we are mostly masked up. #nyctourists will bring other variant to us as they do not #wearamask . Bonus #skate #parking by the door #nycparty #newyorkers #nyclifestyle
As an out-of-state artist who's now had multiple opportunities to work with Adriaan and staff, I can say that I truly consider Van Der Plas gallery my community away from my home-base. Being from Baton Rouge, Louisiana- I had the ability to fly up to New York for my first gallery. Since then, I've already been chosen to participate in a second exhibition, both with this gallery. This has not only been an honor, but it has also increased the amount of work I am selling, both in NYC and Louisiana. Beyond my personal experience, all of my friends and colleagues who also attended the "Harvest Moon" exhibition, which was my first gallery experience in NYC, were impressed with how professional, modern, and cool the atmosphere was. All are excited to attend the "Red Yellow Blue" exhibition as well. As a final note- I really enjoyed the fact that the gallery does not charge entry to patrons for the exhibitions. It allows the gallery to be an inclusive space, and I really enjoy that aspect of it. All love.
Adriaan and his team run a very professional gallery. I have twice exhibited here in a group show and sold a piece in the most recent one. I am very impressed with their generous efforts to help artists succeed and the time they take to engage with potential buyers. Well curated shows in a cool LES location.
I started coming here after doing a LES walking tour of galleries. This one is by far the coolest one I went to. My girlfriends and I try and go to their monthly art shows. Cool artists and even better conversations. Sweet old Russian man in a Seabiscuit hat always has an interesting story to tell. Can't wait for the summer time to walk around in the neighborhood.
I really like this gallery. One of my friends shows here a lot and the opening parties are always great and draw a really mixed crowd. The owner seems like a great guy and his staff are cute and friendly.
