I've been wanting to come here for several years, I finally made it! I had told my wife about wanting to try Vautrot's awhile back. She grew up in this area and she didn't know where it was at! We had to drive into Beaumont to pick up some things and thought it would be a good time to do lunch and take in Vautrot's. We arrived right at opening time and we were promptly seated. The inside had a very nice ambience to it with tables and booths. Our waitress was right on the spot and took our drink and appetizer orders. For appetizers we ordered the Fried Pickles and Alligator Bites. For our lunch order we both ordered the Emerick's Sampler platters. The Emerick's Sampler comes with a cup of Seafood Gumbo and a cup of Crawfish Ettouffee, also two fried Catfish filets, fried shrimp, fried Oysters, and fried Crawfish tails. You get a salad with your choice of dressing and one other side, and I picked the Onion Rings. My wife had Hush Puppies for her side. Our waitress brought bottles of Ranch dressing for the fried pickles for her salad, a bottle of Tarter Sauce, and a bottle of Cocktail Sauce. The fried pickles were really good and fried to perfection as was the Alligator Bites. The Gumbo was really great with a dark rich Roux and was thick like good Gumbo should be! The Ettouffee was just as good as the Gumbo, the taste was great as well!!! The Catfish, Shrimp, and Oysters were all fried to perfection as well, not over cooked at all! Our waitress was very attentive and checked on us frequently. Everyone was very friendly and outgoing. We'll be going back so you can bet on that! I think next time I'm just going for that really Great Gumbo! They do have Seafood and Chicken and Sausage Gumbo if you were wondering. I highly recommend giving them a try if you're anywhere in the area. If you don't get anything else, get Gumbo!!!
Food is ok, I would recommend the club sandwich and the gumbo or the chicken strips with a must of sweet potato fries, and it looks really nice inside and out.
The absolute best Étouffée and gumbo in Southeast Texas! I've been coming here for over twenty years, and it's still unsurpassed. Living in Europe now, it's a must on my restaurants list when I visit.
What a neat little place in the middle of nowhere. I loved the atmosphere and our sever was great! Our food was delicious and they are definitely on to something by having their cakes on display as you walk in. We typically never order a dessert. We were stuffed from our meals but did order desert to go bc the cakes looked too incredible to pass on. They in fact were incredible! 10/10 would recommend!!
This place is out of the way, but I would go back. I had their shrimp étouffée, and it was decent, but their strawberry cake!!!! The waiter gave me a huge slice, and it tasted like heaven! I have been dreaming about it ever since. My friend got a slice of chocolate cake and really liked it as well. They have multiple other flavors too. To add, the waiter was really helpful, friendly, and funny. I definitely recommend this restaurant!
Probably the best bread pudding I have ever had. Delicious food all around. It was not loud like most places are now days. Service was excellent.
This place is an old staple of great food, service, and friendly atmosphere. I enjoyed talking to Ms. Martha during this visit. Our waitress did and Outstanding job of serving our party of twelve. I strayed from my usual of etouffee' to try the chicken fried steak with milk gravy and I was not disappointed! The Black Forest Cherry chocolate cake is a great topper, too!
Pros: Great catfish, gumbo, boudin, and onion rings. Good service, too. Cons: Never got any French bread or bread off any king for that matter, shrimp was very rubbery and chewy. This was our first visit and first impression. We will try it again. Review: Nice atmosphere, good wait staff, friendly, but Floyd’s in Beaumont is superior quality food but the ambiance at Vautrot’s is better. Either are great dining overall, but our preference is Floyd’s.
Very clean, nice atmosphere and the seafood is delicious. If you like froglegs, they are the best I've eaten. We got the sampler platter to share and it was more than we could eat. Homemade desserts. I give them an A+. Service was great and friendly
Cute little quaint family owned restaurant off the beaten path. We went for dinner on the way home from out of town. Our waiter was friendly and helpful since we had never been there before. Food is fresh, made to order and was quite tasty.
