Our precious six year old Frenchie was diagnosed with IVDD. I would first like to start by saying Dr. Laura Stainback was extremely knowledgeable. The facility was great and every single person we worked with was professional and courteous. I will always take my pets to this facility if they have any neurological issues. I also think since this is a review it should be as transparent as possible. I honestly believe these specialists should be properly compensated for the work that they do. Often times I think people subconsciously think that because it's a pet that the cost should be significantly less than it is. However, these specialist are doctors, they are surgeons and perform some pretty fantastic procedures. To get the appropriate level of care your furry family member may need isn't going to be cheap...it's just not when we are talking about neurological issues. I hope that providing the costs in my review gives you a bit more information to make a decision without having the pressure and fear that come with sitting in a waiting room with your pet. MRI- $3,629.62 Spinal Surgery- $6,689.63
Vet Neuro, you killed my dog Susie. I brought Susie to you with class 5 IVDD and I was told by the male doctor that she would have a "90% chance of recovery." I gave you my trust, I gave you $10k do the surgery. Because of the incompetence of the person who placed her catheter, she died from kidney failure. Susie wasn't dying when I brought her to this clinic. I was given back a dog who was quietly dying from kidney infection because your nurse didn't know how to place a catheter in a female dog. I literally called over the weekend to explain that I saw blood in the catheter and I was told "that's normal." I did my due diligence, I watched over her, and she quietly died right in front of me when I could have evaded the surgery altogether and she would still be alive. Give me my money back. I don't need your pathetic hand-written letter explaining how sad you are. You failed to perform your duty. If the surgery didn't fix her condition, that's fine, but instead you handed me back a dying dog and said it would be another $6k to hospitalize her. Susie wasn't dying when I gave her to you. She was dying when I got her back. Susie is dead because of vet neuro, and even if my dogs life depended on it, I would never come back to this place. Your nurse literally handed me my dog and said "here you go" after talking to the doctor that said she was dying. Nobody cared at all. You just took my money and killed Susie. Give me my money back.
I'm sure they're great, if you can actually get seen by them! After two calls to this place, basically begging them to take my money, they still denied me and my pet care. The first call I made to veterinary neurological center was about a month ago with regards to my dog having right sided weakness. I was told that he needs to be seen for evaluation before bringing him in. Unfortunately, I had to travel out of town due to a family member unexpectedly being diagnosed with a very rare, very aggressive form of cancer. I took my dog to a clinic down in the Los Angeles area to be evaluated. They said that it seemed like something in his neck without any type of imaging was causing the weakness, and prescribed anti-inflammatory medication. Two weeks later, I'm back at home, and my dog had a seizure. I called the clinic that I visited in Los Angeles, and they said it was not likely that the medication caused it... But I stopped giving it to him anyway. A week later last night, he had another seizure, and one more this morning. Due to prior knowledge, and an Internet search confirmation, two seizures within a 24 hour period errs on the side of danger and should be addressed. Clearly something neurological is going on... I placed a second call to veterinary neurological center and again they gave me the runaround. Saying that he can't be seen by a neurologist without first being evaluated " for a seizure disorder at his primary vet". When I let them know that he has been evaluated within the last month, the not so kind representative said that he wasn't seen for seizures, that he was seen for right sided weakness. I feel like they are related, and other than the right sided weakness, he was in great health. What else needs to happen apart from three seizures in one weeks time in order to be seen by a neurologist? After reading several reviews, it seems as though they take emergency walk-in visits... why didn't this woman that I spoke to on the phone suggest bringing him in for an emergency visit? Not all emergency clinics have the capability of performing an MRI, but I'm sure a specialist in neurology does. Currently on my way to another veterinary clinic who can see him right away, and I'm glad I didn't give this place my business or my money.
We were devestated to learn that our 5 month old puppy Lulu might be deaf and have neurological issues. Our vet referred us to Veterinary Neurological Center, I was able to get an appointment very quickly and saw Dr. Kim Knowles. The office staff was warm and welcoming and put me as ease immediately. Dr. Knowles listened to my concerns, asked questions, and examined my puppy on the floor. All the while playing and kissing Lulu. Dr. Knowles spent so much time with us and after her exam and tests confirmed Lulu was deaf. She then took the time to reassure me that Lulu would be able to live a very happy, full life. You can tell this is not "just a job" for Dr. Knowles, she truly cares for these animals.
This place saved my dog's life!! My dog has received wonderful care at VNC! Dr. Parker is who we usually see and he is so knowledgable and kind. My dog could barely walk and was diagnosed with meningitis when we first visited. He's now well on his way to a full recovery thanks to the doctors and techs here. The customer service is also amazing. Anytime I call with a question or concern I always get a quick response. Thank you so much VNC!
Was referred to Veterinary Neurological Center by my vet because my Mavis lost mobility of her hind legs. Upon arrival, we were welcomed in and explained what the process was with the MRI and surgery. They took her in and now she's recovering at home with me. I don't know how to say thank you to the wonderful doctors here and that Mavis and I appreciate what you're able to do with your amazing brains and hands. Thank you a million times for saving my little princess. We met when she was an abandoned 3-4 week old pup and i love her with all my heart . Thank you
i was very relieved to be able to make an appointment for my pup to be seen here just 3 days after her emergency vet visit. based on what we discussed during our meeting with dr. parker, we felt comfortable simply monitoring my dog’s condition without any additional testing, just a 2 week follow-up appointment. however, they reassured us that they’d be able to see her quickly if she needed a sooner recheck should her condition deteriorate, potentially even the very next day. i appreciated being given different treatment options, and feeling supported no matter what we chose. parker was very thorough and patient, and you can tell he and the rest of the staff genuinely love pets. despite the stress of having an unwell pet, i feel so much more relieved having VNC in my pup’s corner. thank you!!!
Dr. Lovato and the entire staff made for a pleasant experience for my family with their 1yo Akita with seizures. Excellent bedside manner and they felt comfortable and prepared for what to expect moving forward.
Our 4 year old dog, Rebound, woke up on a Sunday morning and started losing the ability to use his rear legs. We found a veterinarian open and willing to see him. By the time we arrived, Rebound had lost all use of his back end. The Vet saw him and immediately knew the problem was IVDD, which without swift action could result in permanent paralysis. She immediately began calling Neurologists in hopes to reach one willing to exam our dog and perform surgery on a Sunday, outside of normal clinic hours. Dr. Parker took her call and was willing to help us. We immediately left Tucson, headed to Phoenix to meet Dr. Parker. He was there waiting for us, very warm and welcoming, and showed genuine care and concern for Rebound. He too thought it was IVDD, but did imaging to confirm. He performed the necessary surgery that afternoon and after a very somber drive back to Tucson, Dr. Parker called to tell us everything went well. Rebound had to stay in the hospital for a couple days, but Dr. Parker called with updates and put our mind at ease. When it was time for him to come home, the entire office staff were very kind and treated us like family. Dr. Parker met with us, explained everything, and allowed us to ask questions. He is so kind and patient. Once at home, they called to see how Rebound was doing, and when we called them with questions, they were very helpful and kind - we never felt like we were a burden for asking questions. Rebound is now on the road to recovery. He has full mobility again and is on the rebound, living up to his name! We are eternally grateful - THANK YOU SO MUCH, Dr. Parker and Vet Neuro!!!
I took my cat, io, to see Dr. Moore for seizures. Dr. Moore was amazing and kind and helped me get answers to what was going on with my baby boy and give him a proper diagnosis and treatment plan. Dr. Moore showed sympathy and a kindness to io that no other vet/emergency vet has shown. He was aware of the medication regimen the Emergency Vet put him on was difficult for my work schedule, so theyre adjusting it so it's better for me, and that he's still seizure free. They've called to check in on io and make sure he's still doing ok and sticking with consistent follow ups. Im so beyond happy i took io there to get help cause i finally have my baby boy back to his goofy spunky self. Thank you Dr. Moore for everything. I'm so glad io has you as his Dr.
