This is an instant classic. Easily one of my favorite restaurants in Anchorage after just my first visit. Don't let the fact that its located in a strip mall deter you. If you're a fan of butter & garlic, this is the place for you. Get a dessert!
A little hidden Italian gem. The food was outstanding, desserts are a must order. Everything was made fresh. Service was slow but I am still giving them a 5 star. Amy my waitress was great but was the only one bartending and serving the entire restaurant so just make sure you are not in a hurry when dining here. Some of the reviews I read said the restaurant is outdated, it is but it gives it character. I will definitely visit this restaurant again when I am back in Anchorage. They also are flexible when it comes to adding or not wanting something in the dish.
Had a fantastic meal at Villa Nova. Presentation, food, and selection were excellent. Unassuming location notwithstanding, the friendly staff and soft guitar for ambiance made it a place I would return to for high-end, leisurely meals.
One of my hands-down favorite restaurant. Lovely atmosphere, friendly and knowledgeable staff. You must try the macadamia-crusted halibut. I also love their simple side salad with the dill dressing. To-go orders are great too! Nice romantic place to eat. Prepare to wait a little; good takes time!
It's located in a strip mall and easy to miss. The interior needs some updating. It's kind of like they opened in 1970 and just kept adding to it. The food is real good, but the service really needs a class on attentiveness. I think there is one waitress and she didn't explain menu items the same to each customer. We waited a while just for a our initial drink order and then ordered everything at once. Again, the food is pretty spectacular and you will pay for it. I don't know if I'll come back. It just didn't wow me for the price I paid.
There are really only two places to eat good Italian in Anchorage and this is one of them. Fantastic food, great wine, wonderful ambiance and live classical guitar. It does not get any better than this, folks. Of my two favorites, this is the more expensive of the two, but is totally worth it. Pure classic Italian made fresh with excellent quality ingredients, flawless service, and a very Italian upscale feel to the place. Have never had a bad meal here. Highly recommended.
We had dinner here for the first time last night. I had heard it was good but never made it over there. We had 3 amazing dishes, the calamari, the pesto cream pasta, and the filet with gorgonzola pistachio cream sauce amazing!. The steak was cooked perfect and the sauces in both dishes were fantastic. Expect to sit down and take your time eating your meal, drink some wine, and listen to live classical guitar music. Our server made wonderful recommendations and was very kind. Highly recommend for a date night or if you are a fan of Italian food!
Food was good, but took an hour and a half to get. Thinking they forgot to pay the heating bill. Was a bit cool throughout dinner. My wife had to use her coat to keep her legs warm.
The only good thing I can say about this restaurant is that they have a very friendly staff. Alot of people were complaining about the wait, but I didn't find it that bad. The food however was all drenched in marinara sauce to the point where you could barely taste it. I'm from San Francisco so I have very high standards for seafood, gotta say their calamari didnt meet those standards. This definitely wasnt worth my money.
ZERO STARS I wouldn't give ANY stars if I had the option... NEVER going there again! Initially, customer service was fantastic. As more 'older' people arrived, our table was neglected. I am typically a happy tipper since I eat out for the experience. I left zero for this one. My friend, unfortunately had cash to tip... I will tell anyone who asks. Food is okay. Their wait staff severely lacks in customer service. Lazy. Not attentive at all. ZERO STARS
