Editing my previous review: Since my original review, I believe the rude person no longer works there. I’ve visited 3 times now and have had a good experience. The wine selection is solid and if you’re into natural wine this is the best shop uptown. Original Review: Great wine selection but terrible/rude/unwelcoming vibes from the guy with the curly hair. I hope this isn’t the owner because that would be really sad. I’m so relieved when I walk in and see the young woman working. The guy who works weekends doesn’t want to be there, doesn’t want anyone in there, etc.
Terrible customer service. I purchased two bottles of wine on their online shop for pickup. They called me and told me they actually don’t want to sell it and meant it take it offline. Without naming the wine, I actually have a personal relationship to the wine I was trying to purchase and they said they want to give access to people to buy in shop today and drink. I had to ask them if they were going to refund me. Terrible way to run a business.
Love this shop - a wonderful selection of wines across all price points + lovely staff that are there to help with any recommendations and to make wine feel approachable. Always excited when I get to recommend Vinyl to others who are looking to get into natural wines!
Worst in store customer service experience I’ve ever had at a wine shop. Yes, the guy with the curly hair that everyone seems to reference in their reviews. I buy a lot of wine and can assure you, there are plenty of other better places to spend your money.
Favorite wine store in the city. Wonderful selection of natural and organic wines if you care about the environment or focus on eating healthy or organic - you should be trying natural wine. Highly unpretentious staff and great casual vibe. The monthly wine club is a blast with music pairings and detailed stories about the wines and winemakers.
Great shop. The staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, and the selection is diverse and constantly changing, with options for any taste or occasion. Good music is always playing and the shopping experience is always intimate and welcoming, regardless of if the shop is full or empty. Wine tastings on Thursdays are always a plus!
This was neighborhood gem, but unfortunately the last few times I have gone it has been a dry experience. It's all about customer service and the new employee, who may be the owner or manager, with curly hair, makes me not ever wanting to go back. His unwelcoming demeanor and lack of interest or interaction with customers warranted this review. Customer service is key and I would prefer to support a business that makes me feel welcome.
I've been going for about 5 years now. Although I love the convenience and concept. I just had ANOTHER awkward racial encounter with the workers, today. They got my pick up order incorrect and THEN proceeded to NOT trust me. Not cool, last strike. I would rather give my money to businesses that make black people feel welcomed.
Wow just lovely. I was on my way to a picnic in east meadow and decided to get wine over my usual beer because I thought my beer would get warm during the time I had to kill. I walked in and asked for help. My main thing was I wanted to minimize any post wine headache. The woman there Saturday 5/1 was great and didn’t make me feel stupid. She recommended a couple things in an interesting way because I don’t care about wine talk. I ended up buying two bottles, one for today and one to keep for my birthday in a couple months. They were both under $25.
I lived in the neighborhood circa 2012 around when the shop first opened but moved out several years ago. Always thought the shop was great, but I stopped in the other day for the first time in a long while and picked up and 2002 Gewurtztraminer Grand Cru from the ever gracious and unpretentious staff for a VERY reasonable price. Holy COW was it absolutely delicious. Where else could a peasant like me encounter something like this but at Vinyl Wine? Love love love it. Thank you.
