May have saved 11-yr old daughter's vision. Family on vacation at Virginia Beach, daughter suffered from corneal abrasions in both eyes and misdiagnosed with pink eye at instacare. Dire pain 24-hrs later, Utah doctor insisted we take her to nearest pediatric ophthalmologist - emergency room wouldn't know what to do. Virginia Pediatric Eye Center was willing to see her in 15-minutes and provide excellent care, bandaid contact, antibiotics, and follow-up during this emergency. Wife and I felt like God provided a miracle through Virginia Pediatric Eye Center.
I’m running out of patience for this practice. My pediatrician referred my 6 month old to see Dr. Crouch. Our first visit was impersonal; my impression was Dr. Crouch is likely knowledgeable, but doesn’t have the personality and bedside manner to work with children. I stuck with the practice for a follow up at 1 year. My appointment was the first of the day. I waited 45 min for a staff member to finally tell me the doctor wasn’t even in the office. He was running late, in route but they couldn’t give me an estimated time I’d be seen. I had an appointment immediately following and the vagueness of my “new” appointment time did not provide enough info for me to know if I needed to reschedule my next visit, etc. At over an hour late, Dr. Crouch arrives. He makes no acknowledgement of being late, no apology for my wait, nothing. I understand we’re all human and things come up but it doesn’t take much to own your actions and treat others with respect. At the end of our visit, when it was clear he wasn’t planning on acknowledging the situation or apologizing, I told him I was disappointed. And unlike an adult, he began spewing excuses! If you can’t take accountability for your actions on a small scale, doubtful you can be trusted to practice medicine with adequate integrity.
I love this place! They were welcoming, friendly and very patient. I drove 30 minutes to this place and it was so worth it! My favorite is the little computer desks they have in the waiting room.
Took my 2 year old in. We were told her eye condition was quite serious. Prescribed “antibiotics”. Made an appointment with the doctor to see how the “antibiotics” were doing the following day again, because the doctor said it was serious. Well, turns out the doctor wrote the wrong prescription. Confirmed by 2 pharmacies. When I call to get a new prescription, they were closed. The one called the emergency line, I was told the doctor would call me. BUT THEN, I was told the doctor actually wouldn’t call me because emergency call backs were for returning patients ONLY, and my daughter was a first time patient. So let me get this straight…. “Emergency” is subjective on whether or not you’re a returning customer, as opposed to the severity of the condition. Was told the issue is severe, was given the wrong prescription, and was then told that though it was severe, because I hadn’t visited you more than once it is what it is?
THE WORST STAFF EVER, ANYWHERE, They will never keep up with appts, they definitely will NOT call you back, ever, I have had to drive back out there just to talk to someone multiple times. This place is very unprofessional, & that's being kind!! We have been to Virginia pediatric eye care several times at the old location never had a problem with them. Went to the new location today for a re-examination and new glasses, the doctor was very thorough, the doctor did redo our granddaughter's prescription however to my knowledge no glasses were ordered and they let us leave without ordering new glasses, left with only a new appointment in 2 months. I have been calling ever since we left this afternoon of course no one is answering or called back so I can see what we're supposed to do about getting her new glasses. Other than that I have no issues with the place we'll see how it plays out. More to come!! Had to go back to order the glasses, while we did get them pretty quick, the woman dealing with the glasses is the worst customer service representative I've seen in a long time. It's not her job to see if the child can see through the glasses it's only her job to adjust them. it was up to me to see if the child could see through the glasses. Which I had to stop her from adjusting the glasses to see if the child could even see through them first. Then she gives us an eyeglass case that don't even fit the glasses. When I called about it I was given the excuse that's the case the insurance paid for? Duh!! When you take an adult-sized pair glasses and bend them for a child they no longer fit in the case. Duh!! And the sad thing is this place only does children's glasses. So don't you think they should have children's glasses? I was not thrilled with the service at this location whatsoever. When I called and emailed with no reply I finally reached someone to complain about all that had happened and all I got was excuses, excuses, excuses!! It was like a bunch of amateurs were working there. clearly they have some bugs to work out. The only thing I did like about the place was very thorough examination by the obstetrician.
The staff has been kind and courteous. Phone calls and appointments in a quick timely manner. The nurse and the doctor seem genuinely concerned and sincere about my daughter. The triage nurse called me back and talked with doctor quickly. It made it easy for me to trust the practice because it seems everyone is doing so well working as a team and they wanted to help my daughter as soon as possible because of her symptoms. I’m so thankful to have found Dr Bejarano and this pediatric ophthalmologist practice.
We can't recommend this office enough!! Absolutely the BEST experience from the initial phone call to set up the appointment to today. Our toddler can be a bit nervous of the doctor's office and was a bit upset when we first arrived, but he calmed down while in the waiting room. He stayed calm the entire visit thanks to the incredible staff. They made our trip so much fun and made him at ease when he seemed to be getting a bit nervous. The staff interacted directly with our son, making each part of his exam a fun game and he loved it!! 100/10!! Thank you ALL again for your patience, understanding and awesome attitudes!!!!
The office staff here is great I love candance so much because my sons situation was very unusual. To be honest I’ve never seen nor been through anything like this let alone with a 9 year old autistic child. But I promise you Dr Laura Bagdonaite Bejarano doesn’t need to work with children let alone let alone special needs children who have just been recently diagnosed with a auto immune disease. I definitely will be making some noise about the way she was talking to me and my mother
Today my daughter had her annual check up for her eyes. When I say a pleasant experience from check in to the exam, it was nothing but the best. We were immediately acknowledged and greeted by Linsay and she was so helpful with the check in process. It was very clean and it was not crowded which during these times is a plus. We were called back to the exam room and again I loved how patient Candice was with my daughter and I truly appreciate that. Dr.Kun is the ABSOLUTE BEST when it comes to pediatric eye care.I highly recommend him and his staff!!! They are located in the Greenbrier section of Chesapeake Va....
I am comparing my visit to Virginia Pediatric Eye with Wilmer Eye Institute at John Hopkins and rate the visit and professionalism at Virginia Pediatric Eye well above JH. Thank you for providing the care I desired and exceeding my expectations
