While they are doing renovations there are no apartment amenities available and little communication about the actual timeline to completion. Additionally, have tried getting oven repaired for MONTHS and they have yet to fix the issue so I cannot bake anything in the oven. The Gas account was not setup properly and resulted in a fee so I asked for the meter number and they drop off a slip with the meter reading after having described specifically that I needed the number. Afterwards they said this is something only the gas company can provide. This is completely BS as the gas company said the apartment definitely has access to those meters. I complain and what do you know, they magically get the numbers to me the next day. The best part is that they took almost 2 weeks to respond about this fee and the individual (Alex Bendel) states that he couldn't respond as he was out of office. This email was sent to the general email that all staff can see. No one else thought to reach out and once he gets back and sees that I didn't pay the fee, he adds a $250 late fee onto our bill, gets a late fee notice written up, signed, witnessed, and put on or door then STILL does not respond to the email after having mentioned he saw it while I passed him in the elevator. Horrible customer service and staff manager. The concierge staff is great but Alex should be fired and they should learn to respond to emails as is their job. Late fee was never refunded and oven is still broken. Other fees include one of the highest parking monthly fees per month, rent hikes every year, non-refundable pet deposit, the highest pet fees in the neighborhood. Disappointed at myself for living here and would HIGHLY NOT RECOMMEND this apartment unless the staff changes.

I just moved into Virginia Square Apartments and am very impressed with the level of service that I received for moving in. Signing my lease was incredibly easy and I was able to find a great 1-bedroom within my budget. I appreciate the updated amenities to the building (including the lobby) and the professional nature of the staff who make this an awesome home. It is a very quiet building that is family & pet friendly, very easy access to the metro, and has awesome views from the 19th floor. I appreciate the fact that the staff also left a welcome package within my new apartment upon moving in. I'll happily recommend Virginia Square Apartments to anyone seeking a new home in the Arlington area.

Virginia Square Apartments is just not worth it. Save yourself the money and heartache of living in this place. I have been living here for the past year and to put it gently, it's been terrible. There has been construction nearly every day since I've moved in with no form of compensation for the residents that are currently living through the noise and scent of construction other than a rent hike for the next year's lease. I've gotten out of my elevator, only to find tape running through my hallway and planks scattered all around the floor. They barely made any upgrades to the gym and the club room (other than making it look "new") even though they went over the estimated construction time for months. And the kicker-- they made all the residents go through the trash room for months while entering and exiting the building while doing the construction in the lobby. There's nothing better than the smell of trash in the morning or after a long day of work. Moreover, they've become increasingly stingy (e.g. starting to charge guests for using the pool and requiring residents to have a "pool pass", running out of food 10 minutes into an "apartment-wide" celebration for living through the construction-- just goes to show how much they actually care about the residents). Also, the walls are extremely thin and if you get unfortunate with your neighbors they can be either extremely loud or paranoid. I've gotten noise complaints about my room even when neither my roommate nor I was in the room and can hear the music playing out of my neighbors room across the hall. What I consider some dull positives: It's nice to have a gym in the building but it is nothing special with a couple of cardio machines, dumbells that go up to 45 pounds and one cable machine. The dogs are friendly. It's as close as you can get to the metro.

Update: It's now been almost 6 years at the community and I still love it. Yes, it was annoying when the building went through it's renovation stage as some people have mentioned - but there was no better way to do it, and it needed to be done. The updated community spaces look more open and inviting than they did. The staff is still excellent (as always). I've been living here for about a year and a half and I absolutely love it! Everyone in the office is super helpful and the service team is fantastic! While it is expensive, you are paying for the location and the convenience - you're about 10 feet from the metro station (literally!), Theres a starbucks, deli and a dry cleaners in the building! While I have had some minor service requests - nothing to really write home about, the service team was fantastic, they were almost always there the same day and got everything resolved super quickly - David Evans is their service manager and one of the friendliest people I know. If you're home when they show up, he'll spend the time to talk to you and you feel like you matter, not just in his way. The front desk is amazing as well. The other David works the morning shift during the week and always knows your name, if you have a package and he always remembers previous conversations and will ask - did you see that game, hows your mom, etc. This place really does feel like home and I wouldn't have it any other way.

The building is currently under construction, and for several months we have no access to any amenities - but we are still being charged for them. No computer lab, no club room, no meeting room. No front door. None of this was disclosed during rent negotiation and no rent concessions are being offered. When the lease terms ends, offers are made that are higher than the going rate for vacant units in the same building. It feels very deceptive. The two good things about the place are the amazing concierge David and the VA square metro station.
