Went for a chocolate bar making class. The chocolate final product was amazing, you could taste the great quality chocolate. We got to taste good quality chocolate and nibs and go home with a gift packaged chocolate bar. The "lecture" part of the class was boring and teacher wasn't engaged with his PowerPoint presentation. You could tell he was enthusiastic about chocolate, and he was much more excited when he got to the making chocolate part.
Absolutely great! We took our son and he absolutely loved it! The gentleman helping us did an amazing job really making it an experience to remember. He chocolate was very delicious!
Excellent fun activity for kids. My 5 year old loved making the chocolate lollipops with sprinkles and pricing was reasonable $25. Staff friendly and helpful with kids. Would recommend booking reservation in advance.
Went here with a couple of friends, and we had an excellent time! Our instructer was incredibly helpful and attentive, the process itself was fun, and everything offered was delicious. It's a little pricy, but the experience was seriously worth it. Great for people whp love chocolate and looking for something new!
We went here for my 30th birthday and it was so much fun! Kadeem was extremely helpful and personable and made our experience that much greater. The chocolate was pre-melted although designing my lollipops was such a blast. I would definitely suggest this activity for those interested in a cute, romantic date, a birthday event, or just for chocolate lovers in general! I will definitely return here next time I'm in NY! :-
Lapin and I came in here for some sweet treats. We got all three of hot chocolate they had available that day - the house brew [delicious], the banana hot chocolate [a bit sweet] and the spicy hot chocolate [had a bit of a kick]. I wasn't very fond of the spicy hot chocolate and one of the chocolatiers saw my weird facial expression and she topped it off with homemade [who needs that Reddi-whip crap] whipped cream --- which was delicious! We tried a couple of their pastries scone and financier which were also delicious. I wanted to try the brownie but was a bit hesitant to spend $4 on it. We also tried the Praline truffles for $2 which was delicious. It had the perfect sweetness and creaminess. Everyone at the store was super helpful, knowledgeable, friendly and nice. They went out of their way to please the customer. We walked out with a small fortune of goodies to enjoy later. The only downside is even though they use high quality ingredients read pricey! -- I wish they had a bit more of a selection sea salt caramels --- where are you?!.
I planned a trip to New York for my mother. I called Voila several weeks in advance to reserve a spot for my mother & grandmother for her birthday & made it VERY clear that this was surprise & to have all communication through me & to charge MY card. The NIGHT BEFORE their 11 AM class, they call my mother & tell her they need to cancel because a larger group contacted them & they need the spots. I run 2 businesses & I would never cancel with current customer just because something "bigger and better" came along, all customers should be treated equally. I also don't appreciate that they called her instead of me & canceled last minute - it was all VERY unprofessional...
Used to be a good place till they doubled their price. Kids activities cost $25 but if you want an adult to join they'll be charged at least $50, even if you make the same amount of chocolate.
update: March 10, 2017 Given my ordeal, I was contacted by Peter Moustakerski - the kind owner of Viola Chocolat. He notified me of the investigation of the matter and that the cancellation charge had now been refunded. It was nice of him to reach out personally to ensure I received my refund and to apologize for my experience. He also offered me a gift card to Viola Chocolat which was mailed to me. Thank you Peter for your professionalism, respect, and for remembering that the customer's experience and relations with your company are important. ______________________________________________ I had previously had two wonderful experiences at Viola. The first time was to celebrate a friend's birthday and the second time with friends who loved the photos posted from the first event and wanted to go themselves. Because of the great experience it had been I intended to make arrangements for my co-workers and I have a team building event there for February. As other reviewers have noted, it is a bit expensive here and my manager did not approve the activity. I cancelled over the phone for the event but was charged $250 because they had no record of it. The manager of the location, Katie, was who I spoke with in clarifying the situation. I told her that unfortunately I did not remember the name of who I spoke with to cancel the reservation and she was defensive and made me feel as if she didn't have time to sort out the matter. The one thing she was helpful in was suggesting to provide the phone number I had called Viola with to cancel as a means of tracing and confirming that I did actually cancel the reservation. She told me that someone will be reaching out to me once the phone records have been looked over again. I was hopeful to hear from whoever would be calling back but instead of a call or an email in response to me - I got a charge instead. Further, when I informed Katie that I would be working for the next two days prior I work as an inpatient Oncology nurse so I do not always have time to take breaks to phone calls she was rude and told me they would call them when they're ready. I felt that my conversation with her was so I unconstructive. Even though I tried so hard to be understanding of them and work with Katie to get to the bottom of what happened it just was not reciprocated and I felt completely attacked by Katie over the matter. Her tone and behavior made me cry and feel defenseless. I sent an email as she told me to with the full description of what happened. The phone number of the landline I used to call and I provided screenshots of messages amongst co-workers dated and time stamped referencing that I cancelled the reservation. There was no response to my email. Instead, the next day I was charged to my credit for the $250 $25 for 10 people. I feel as if I have been automatically punished for this error simply because I could not remember the name of who I spoke with. And even if there was not enough tangible proof that I did in fact cancel my reservation - a response to my email stating that they will be charging me regardless would have been the professional and considerate thing to do. Not to just completely ignore a customer who was tearful and actively did her part in trying to clarify the situation. I felt very brushed aside and blamed for something that is not my fault. It really saddens me that I was treated with such disregard. And if you choose to make a reservation be sure you know the name of every person you speak with because you will be the one forced to pay for any potentials error made.
Took my grandchildren ages 6,8,and 13: we had fun making our chocolate candies! The staff was so helpful with ideas ...best was to give our friends our homemade candy!
