Wes Flinn RPT, Registered Piano Technician, is professional piano technician providing piano tuning and repair services in Phoenix AZ and cities in Arizona

Story

Wes Flinn RPT -- Registered Piano Technician (RPT) is my business name. As an RPT, I provide full acoustic piano maintenance services to the central Phoenix AZ Valley, and maintain the Internet book "Piano Tuning Phoenix", which is the largest piano owner maintenance website on the Internet. Business was established in Phoenix, AZ in 2001.

My personal background includes: (1) RPT certification by the national Piano Technicians Guild (PTG), which is internationally regarded as the ultimate teaching and certification authority in the field of Piano Technology; (2) I am a graduate of the Yamaha "Little Red Schoolhouse" and the Renner "Renner USA Piano Action Academy"; (3) I have graduate training at the factories of Schimmel Piano Co., and August-Foerster Piano Co. in Germany, and the Boesendorfer Piano Co. in Austria. (3) I was Choral Director for the Univ of Texas, as well as taught there the subjects of Music Theory, Music History, Piano and Voice; (4) I also enjoyed a wonderful career as a professional stage singer in musical comedy and opera after winning auditions and scholarships from the Metropolitan Opera, the San Francisco Opera and Ft Worth Opera. (5) My mother was a concert pianist and teacher with four pianos -- I learned much of the professional piano maintenance concepts I now use out from her musical and piano wisdom, and from my first-hand practical observation of her piano technicians.

A Registered Piano Technician provides all levels of service for physical, acoustical pianos, but does not work on electronic keyboards, or other electrical devices, like Hammond organs or other similar instruments. Acoustic pianos are physical machines that have 10,000 to 14,000 parts, and require on-going maintenance of different kinds in order to work and perform correctly. The regular and on-going mechanical services needed by acoustic pianos include: Tuning, Regulation, Lubrication service. Tuning is the most common service needed, simply because the acoustic piano is a physical machine that includes some 225 strings which have to be correctly tensioned in order to sound correctly in music. All pianos have a motor which operates them that is called the "piano action" -- this mechanism is actually a row of 88 "mechanical advantage motors" -- one motor for each of all the 88 keys -- all of which require adjustment and lubrication from time to time in order to operate correctly. Today's world is dominated with electrical devices, and therefore most people are generally not very familiar with physical machines, or the concept that physical machines have to be maintained while using them, versus electronic devices which work for a time and when no longer working are discarded and replaced. About the only thing that is generally known today about piano maintenance today is that a person called a "tuner" is needed to make them sound well. The correct term should actually be "technician", and the Registered Piano Technician is someone who has the equivalent of a doctor's degree in other fields of service, such as education or medicine or law. In order to become capable of servicing a concert level piano, like found on public auditorium stages or in recording studios, a person usually has to study and work for about 10 years or more before gaining sufficient knowledge and experience to reliably perform this kind of work. Registered Piano Technicians are readily available, however, and can be located throughout the United States and also world-wide by contacting the Piano Technicians Guild (PTG) at www.ptg.org, where a piano owner can search using a zip code to find a capable local RPT to perform any kind of acoustic piano service. Information about all levels of piano maintenance in general, as well as the specific qualifications, location and scheduling of Wes Flinn RPT are available on my website at: www.WesFlinn.com

The internet search terms normally used to find Wes Flinn RPT are these combinations of words: "Wes Flinn RPT", "piano tuning phoenix," "piano tuner phoenix," piano regulation phoenix," "piano service phoenix," "piano repair phoenix," and "piano maintenance phoenix."
