Beautiful very large cemetery, the abbey near the back is one the most interesting parts. The outside of the abbey was used as the shooting scene in the tv show Ozark where it stood in for a Mexican mansion owned by a drug cartel leader in the show. The abbey appears older but is only from the 1940s, however it does seem to be in a bit of disrepair. Many of the lights inside were not functional upon my visit and it looked like water was leaking in from the roof. I do think it is being renovated though, so hopefully those are things they are addressing. This cemetery isn’t as grand as the more famous Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta but has its own charms all the same. I am leaving one star off because this cemetery keeps very odd hours! Closing at 5:30 on weekdays is fair enough but they close at 2 on Saturday and aren’t open at all on Sundays. I presume it’s a staffing/security thing but it’s not great. Oakland Cemetery embraces the “we are a cemetery but also a park to enjoy” thing and Westview feels like the opposite. They lock the gates so you cannot access it after hours and you risk getting locked in if you are still there after they close.
A stop along the way to remember a few and see a few beautiful head stones and Canadian geese. We saw a few folks had rated this about a 3.5 and we were in the area and thought we like walking cemeteries ever since Paris and London. Take a few moments and pause and realize we are only here a short period of time. Next interaction with someone thank them, be kind, leave them smiling.
Incredible cemetery. You’ll almost always see deer all around the area, and on summer nights you can watch thousands of bats leave the abandoned water tower for the night. The cemetery is huge and has great architecture. Be sure to check out the abbey when it’s open to visitors again!
Beautiful Ceremony! Horrible caretakers! Absolutely beautiful in some areas but others are completely discarded! Absolutely disgusting the graves are all covered with grass slung from the lawnmovers its heart breaking! I couldn't find my grandparents graves. The man at the front was the worst ever! He gave me a large blank map with a red dot and nothing. Not ever a smile or greeting. I've been to cemeteries all over never been to one like this. I have about 15 family members there and couldn't find one of them because of the horrible conditions. Theres are several hills that look completely empty but there's full of buried markers! Total Disrespect!
I was so impressed with the way BRIAN handled my family. I simply called over the phone, gave him my loved ones name. On the very next day he had everything together and all we had to do was sign. What I thought would be a sad long drawn out occasion it was 30 minutes in and out. Thank you Westview.
All the Souls of Atlanta Even though it was one of the windiest and coldest days, we enjoyed strolling around the cemetery. Absolutely gorgeous mausoleums and head stones. I would love to come back during the fall so I can see more.
Breathtaking. Such a beautiful place to rest and celebrate life. The landscape, the tombs, and the church were all timeless. The details and work that went into the structures did not go unnoticed. One of the most beautiful places I've been.
Traveled to visit my Wife's Mother and the Abbey doors were locked. To close on Sunday is ridiculous....not to mention the 10am to 2pm hours! Sorely Disappointed and Aggrivated
A historic hidden gem in the city. The mausoleum is beautiful and a perfect place to take a few moments of peace and quiet and reflect on life. The cemetery covers a lot of acreage, so its a great spot to take a peaceful stroll.
DO NOT USE THIS CEMETERY!! I repeat, DO NOT USE THIS CEMETERY!!! Yes, it is pretty, there are deer and it appears to be beautiful. But this place does NOT care about your departed loved one. They are not organized. Thankfully, we were able to take our family member out and put him where he would be better respected! They actually stole a vase that my dad gave my mom 40 years ago. We have spoken to others who have been treated this same way. There are other places that are nicer and easier to get to outside of 1-20 traffic. Just because a place is historic, does not mean it is the best suited place for your departed loved one.
