It was so cool when you got to the very top but it was a pain getting down. My feet still ache.

Hiking up to the top of this 13,060 foot high Great Basin National Park peak is one of my all time best top-of-the-world experiences. You find yourself over 8000 feet above the valley floor. A popular campground is near the trail head. Conveniently, you can start the hike at 10,000 feet elevation. Because of the altitude, I highly advise low landers to acclimate first to avoid altitude sickness. Beware also of sudden thunderstorms and terrific wind. Even in summer it can be cold up top. Just be prepared.

If this isn't on your bucket list yet, then make sure it goes on right now. Make sure you do the scenic drive and also do the Bristlecone Pine Trail and if you have enough energy definitely go up Wheeler Peak but it's not easy. Also stopped by the visitor center and speak with the well-informed park rangers and they'll tell you more than you ever wanted to know about the park. And of course Lehman caves.
