What a gem that we discovered in this cruise experience! Absolutely amazing experience with Whistling Man and their sailboat, Friendship!! Honestly, it could not have gotten much better. A Goldilocks day of sailing was capped off by two incredible guides, Peri and Eddy, who were friendly, knowledgeable, accommodating, and positive, and who regaled us with 2 hours of wonderful and amazing facts, stories, experiences, insights, and humor about the lake, Champ, and so much more! The boat, Friendship, was beautiful, the sailing was divine, the lake was just about perfect, the views were killer, and the weather was magnificent! I am so happy that the experience went so well and I heartily recommend the experience to all those seeking something unique to do while in Burlington! Thanks again, Peri, Eddy, and Whistling Man for making this a truly memorable experience!! I will be returning next summer, that is a given!
Mother-in-law was visiting so I booked 1:45 cruise for something to do and check out Whistling Man for possible future trips. Honestly I didn't know what to expect. I don't get that excited about boats. It was so much more pleasurable than we were expecting. The boat is unique and cozyily comfortable for 2 hours with a place to eat/drink. Mother-in-law is over 75 with recent hip surgery and she got on and off easily with everyone eager to help. She HAD A BLAST! I didn't realize she used to sail she talked about it the rest of her trip. Very relaxed and comfortable, with crisp fresh air and good conversations. Our captain OB and Peri were laid back but super knowledgeable, providing ample information and stories when desired and space to absorb the sites and sounds or talk with each other, as well. Definitely be booking when other guests visit as well as a private sunset cruise for ourselves. Highly recommend this company. Worth it.
Our family had the great pleasure to sail on Friend Ship September 22 for our son's wedding. It was a picture perfect day, a beautiful vessel and great crew. Captain Cory and "Moxie" her pirate name! were friendly and fun. It was Captain Cory's first time officiating a wedding, and he did a fantastic job! This is a really special place for a wedding ceremony. We then sailed into the Leahy Echo Center for the reception, where all of the guests were gathered on the deck to welcome us back to port. This is a lovely, intimate way to experience beautiful Lake Champlain!
We took a sunset cruise on the Friendship with Capt. OB- Hannah O'Brien and her crewman Oliver. They were funny and friendly so knowledgeable about the area and the history and had lots of interesting stories to tell. The sailboat was beautiful and very comfortable for 8 passengers on board. We were fortunate to have an absolutely beautiful night for sailing and the sunset was breathtaking. A wonderful experience that I would definitely do again.
My brother, sister-in-law and their three children were visiting from Utah. We took a 4:15 sailing trip together. It ended up being one of the absolute highlights of our time together. Also, we had originally wanted to go on the sunset cruise. However, they were all booked out when we signed up. We ended up being grateful we were on the 4:15 because by the time sunset came, the weather had turned a little chilly. We got off the boat and watched the Sunset from the restaurant on the shore called Splash. Our crew aboard the Friend Ship Captain Pete & Laz were 100% awesome! We would highly recommend this experience for visitors & locals!
Wonderful experience on the “Friend Ship” the lake was very calm but enough wind to harness for a slow cruise. The crew was awesome and our captain was a local Vermonter with lots to share about the lake and it’s history. My 6yo got to steer the boat while we enjoyed drinks and snacks taking in the views. Highly recommend the experience to those who’d like a different perspective of Burlington.
My family and I had the best experience sailing with Whistling Man. We had the fortune of beautiful weather and 2 impressive young women as our captain and deck hand. Captain Perri and Eddy were not only great sailors but also super knowledgeable about the region and its history, making our experience that much more enjoyable. We would highly recommend them if you are looking for an authentic experience sailing on Lake Champlain.
Amazing experience aboard the Friendship with Jewel and Perry! My husband and I enjoyed a beautiful evening to celebrate our anniversary. The crew was helpful, funny, knowledgeable and all around great! We loved every minute of the sunset cruise and didn’t want it to end. We brought our own drinks and dinner and the crew brought us plates, utensils and glasses to enjoy our sunset dinner. Highly recommend! We will definitely be back! Perry and Jewel were fantastic!
We had an amazing time on Friendship. Our captain, Ditty, was so kind, talented, and knowledgeable. Oliver was also fun to chat with and very knowledgeable of the area. I loved all of the fun facts that we learned while on board. We packed a picnic to have on the boat, and we loved snacking while enjoying the crew, scenery and the sailboat. We had a party of eight, which included two kids. We all had an amazing time. The kids even said they felt Champ under their feet, no official sightings from the adults though. I definitely recommend booking Whistling Man for a wonderful experience no matter if you are just in the area for a vacation or if you live there. Everyone in our group mentioned this as one of their favorite activities we did on the trip.
I highly recommend a sail with the Whistling Man Schooner Co! We took the 6:45 pm tour aboard The Friendship. For our sail, we had Captain Cory & Lazlo. Captain Cory was very knowledgeable and told us great stories about the lake, shipwrecks & the area. We brought wine and snacks, as suggested. They provided cups & utensils which was very helpful. It was a perfect evening. The lake was like glass. It was cloudy. However, once the sun set, the sky looked like it was on fire. Check in was easy. Staff was professional & fun. The boat was clean. Book your cruise now! This is a great activity for everyone!
