I used to get great turkey sandwiches here but lately the turkey is dark, dry, and looks like dog food. Has happened the last 3 times in a row. A shame really.
White House Deli is a tiny shop in downtown D.C. near the White House hence the name. It's one of those bodega type shops with a large selection of grab-and-go drinks, chips, candy bars, etc. They also make really good breakfast and lunch sandwiches. In the morning, I got the ham, cheese, and egg sandwich on an English muffin and it was great. They layer the ham and eggs so it's a thick sandwich.
Extraordinary home made taste food! The place needs TLC but the food in wonderful. 1 minute away walk from The White House.
Walked past the open door, smelled good. On the carving table is a full roast Turkey, still steaming, that they're carving off of. Amazing, couldn't finish the sandwich. Definitely recommend. Drink and a bag of chips about $10 the picture was the smaller half
Not worth it. what I asked for was wrong. no mayo some other sauce they added. sandwich had to be old/ pre made looks toasted but soggy. just all around terrible.
Awesome small deli serving good food with reasonable prices. I loved the New Yorker pastrami sandwich was excellent. My wife enjoyed her sausage bacon cheese Croissant with her very affordable coffee! Stop by for breakfast and lunch as they close by 2pm. Korean owned so support your local asian small business!! Follows covid guidelines and very clean spot.
They get very busy and therefore slow right around noon, but the line still goes pretty quickly, everything is made to order, the prices are reasonable, and the roast beef sandwich on rye is delicious. I must warn you that once you step inside, you end up smelling like meat for the rest of the day.
Real food at good prices. I even asked if they would make a rueben on a salad and they humored me. It was amazing. We went back and the food was even better. The rueben salad is the best.
One of those places I wish I could give six stars to. I cannot imagine being hungry around the White House, needing a quick eat and going anywhere else. Skip the food truck and go here. The turkey breast is made fresh, roasted right there every morning- so you might not get some if you're late and they've run out. Went for lunch, breakfast and lunch over two days- everything was fantastic. The Italian with the little bit of spicy pepper was great. And do yourself a favor, get an omelet. Thanks for the good food guys!
Been going here almost every morning or lunch for the past 2 years and WILL NEVER go back again!!! The only old lady who works there is very racist and disrespectful towards her customers, i assume she is the owner as well. She has been very disrespectful to me which i let slide a couple of time, but today was enough. I told the nice gentleman making the food that i wanted no mayo on my sandwich he is making multiple orders at a time, so i am sure he misheard or forgets time to time i see the old lady putting mayo on my sandwich so i tell her that i said no mayo. She instantly started getting an attitude and said “well he told me everything” i said i told him no mayo please and she just kept proceeding to yell at me “he told me everything on it” as she was working on the other orders without changing out my bun. This lady knows i come almost everyday and still has the nerve to treat her customers like this! A friend of mine who i work with also said he heard her mumble the N word under her mask to him one day. I can’t believe I’ve actually spent my hard earned money at this place! All of this because she put mayo on my bun…
