Photojournalist
Steve is an accomplished photographer in the areas of photojournalism, commercial, advertising campaigns, portraiture, aerial, wedding, food, product photography and all types of events.
On photojournalist assignments since 1999, he has served as the Assistant Photographer for award-winning National Geographic Photographer, Richard Nowitz. Together, they have traveled the world documenting cultures and landscapes for the readers of the National Geographic. Also, for the National Geographic, Steve has done aerial shots, including the monuments of Washington, D.C., that were used in a book about our nation's capital. In addition, they have photographed travel destinations for Conde Nast and World Magazine. Another assignment took Steve to the Badlands of South Dakota where he lived among the Sioux Indians. While there he developed a series of photographs telling a story of these proud people, their rich culture and how the modern world has impacted their survival. Also, as a photojournalist for Greenpeace, Steve was responsible for photographing toxic environments for several ad campaigns.
For two years, Steve served as the official photographer of the Kensington Volunteer Fire Department capturing the intensity, dedication, conviction, and life-threatening work of local firemen as they fought to save lives and property. His work was shown at the Corcoran Gallery of Art and received accolades from various Montgomery County officials. Furthermore, his work was featured in the Washington Post, Montgomery Journal, Gazette, and on Montgomery cable TV.
Executive Corporate Portraits
Over the years, Steve has been selected to photograph numerous corporate executives for ad campaigns, annual reports, and official portraits. He has taken portraits of President George W. Bush along with members of his cabinet, including Donald Rumsfeld, and the Prime Minister of Poland.
Former Chef
Steve was also an accomplished chef, which allows him to bring a unique quality to his food photography. Steve's love of food is clear, as you want to sit down and take a bite from every picture. Steve takes pride in styling his own food photography.
Wedding Photographer
Through his wedding photography, Steve provides each couple with a beautiful documentary of their very special day. Using a photojournalist approach, Steve captures the intimate moments throughout the day along with the personality of the couple and their guests to provide a rich pictorial and a life long memory of their wedding day.
Art School Educated
Originally from Norwich, England, Steve emigrated to the United States in 1989 and proceeded to obtain a BFA in photography with honors from The Corcoran College of Art in Washington, D.C. To round out his capabilities, he studied commercial photography at Montgomery College in Maryland. Because of his love for his craft, Steve has taught photography, including black & white photography and darkroom techniques to both adults and children since 1996.
Awards
Finally, during his career, Steve has received several honors, including The H.E. Klappert Memorial Award for Photography. Steve is the winner of The Gold and The Silver Award in an international competition sponsored by the Artistic Guild of the Wedding Photojournalist Associations.
