An adults only campground is probably one of the best things I’ve come across. It was so quiet and nice there, I miss it already. No screaming children is my idea of heaven. Beautiful location. Clean and nice bathroom, laundry service was great. If I ever make my way up to Scarborough Maine again, I am definitely staying again. Also Sue at the front desk was a delight.
A Gem of a campground! We have stayed twice. It is a very quiet and clean place, in a forested area. Nice view of the nearby marsh. We love the convenience to Portland and Old Orchard Beach. Would have loved to kayak, but it was too cold and windy. You can launch a kayak from the campground.
We absolutely loved our weekend away at Wild duck campground. Sue was a delight at check in, so kind and helpful. The location is beautiful right on the marsh. It’s a short drive to Portland and Old Orchard Beach. If you are looking for quiet and relaxing, this is the place.Location: 5/5
Highly recommend Wild Duck if you are looking for a place to unwind from the norm. The place was so quiet on a Saturday night you could hear a pin drop. Very clean, sites are level, sand/gravel, hook ups are close to the camper so no need for 50 feet of water hose, bathrooms where clean, hot showers, nice staff, firewood delivery, and great atmosphere. One lane road coming and going so you do need to pay attention to make sure no one is trying to go your direction, or you will have to back up. Sites can be a little tight as i had a 32' travel trailer and did end up swinging my front end along another's site to make the turn but made it work. Again HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend and will definitely be back. I was in site 21 in front of the tent sites.
We spent two nights at Wild Duck at the recommendation of our next door "neighbor" at Champlain Adult Campground. The campground is quiet, clean and well located for exploring nearby Portland. We would definitely consider stopping again on our way to/from destinations further north in Maine.
Love this place… friendly staff, clean and well kept sites and bathroom. A lot of the sites are very close together. I’d say that if you want a nice view, sites 19-33 are the best, overlooking the marshes. Our site looked over the forest, but it was also lovely. And QUIET. We were there in early June, which was not as busy there. But it was so peaceful. The campground is also nice and close to OOB, and about 20 min to Portland.
Clean bathrooms, quiet, great location, dog friendly. We stayed for 3 nights and had a complaint from a creepy guy staying in a bum trailer close by on the first night. His complaint was our dogs were excessively barking and off leash which was not true at all. They barked a few times when unknown visitors came close and when they heard a firework go off. They also found the guy to be very creepy and were on edge in his presence! They are not excessive barkers and never have been! The gentleman who made us very uncomfortable rode his bike had no car wore a black leather jacket in 90 degree weather, smoked cigarettes, never changed his clothing, drank all day, and stared at us from his trailer each day we were there. He never left his camper unless it was to smoke. His behavior and obsession with us was very creepy and made it hard for us to enjoy ourselves when we were in camp. Everyone else around us loved the dogs and had nothing bad to say. Meanwhile, other dogs were roaming the campground off leash! We will not be coming back to this campground due to how uncomfortable we felt.
Very nice campground. A bit tight in the campground and the entrance / exit is a one lane road, but all do-able. We're towing a 35' 5th wheel and had no problems. Sites are level and very shady. Very clean and well maintained. Campground is adult 21+ only, which was a nice break. Check-in was easy and friendly. The campground sits at the end of a residential street and they reasonably ask for campers to slow it down for that last quarter mile after hours of high speed on the interstate. Only regret is that we didn't get a chance to use the free kayaks. We'd stay again anytime.
We love this campground. We had a back in site on the marsh. The sites are a little tight but the views are worth it. The restrooms and showers are clean and there is plenty of hot water and good water pressure. The showers are a bit small but definitely doable. There is a duck pond on the property and walking paths nearby. It is very quiet but near restaurants and attractions.
I was really excited to visit this campground. Being new to Vermont and having a new motorhome and seeing that it was adults only it looked like a great spot. Unfortunately, the weekend of the reservation, my mother-in-law passed away. I sent the owner of campsite the obituary and my apologies and asked if I could come at a later date. He told me there were no refunds. I reached out to him recently to ask if I could use a credit towards the four days that I spent over $500 and he won’t even respond to my email so as far as I’m concerned, I would not give them one dollar of my money. I will never camp here and reading the bad reviews about how dirty it is and all the weird people hanging around. I guess I’m happy that I did not go.
