You gotta understand, this store is actually miraculous and it's workers are like warrior angels. Have you ever taken a look arourd the area where the store is located? You know what I mean... The fact this store has remained open, and actually retains the employees that they do is AMAZING. I love shopping here and getting that West Bank feeling. My only criticism is that they need MORE security, with bigger guns. I'm not being sarcastic, I grew up in the flats, it's paradise.
One worker bumped right into me and didn't apologize. Shortly after she was harassing a person who looked like they could be transient because he was shopping for things. He later went up to the self-checkout and paid for everything. He asked the clerk at self checkout for a pen and she asked why she had a look of disgust on her face and annoyance and gave him a pen. Disgusting behavior on the employees part. Grow up, houseless people are people too. Nobody should be treated with disrespect like that for no reason.
This Winco location, 7979 SE Powell Blvd, Portland, REGULARLY PROHIBITS customers from entering the store WELL BEFORE their "midnight" CLOSING TIME. Management is RUDE, bordering on HOSTILE to the inevitable "last minute" rush of customers arriving to spend money at this store. The reason they give for doing this is that "there are too many customers in the store... there will be long checkout lines, and the need for employees to work late." HERE'S AN IDEA... staff up at closing time. Prepare for the rush of business, and serve the customer base that keeps you in business, rather than "preventing it" by "closing early" and frustrating customers who arrive "BEFORE closing time." I recently moved to the neighborhood, and would like to be able to shop at this location. I work late, and on several occasions have arrived right at 11:45-50pm. No other Winco nor any other store that I have ever shopped at does this. It is extremely inappropriate and rude. I would suggest that they CHANGE their closing time to 11:30pm, but, if the customer rush shifts to just before 11:30pm, they would then start "closing early" at 11:15pm to "avoid long lines and overtime for employees." I sent feedback about this through their website, but apparently whoever provides email "customer service" doesn't understand how unprofessional, irritating and inappropriate this ridiculous practice is. "Store can close early as they need to." I refuse to support this Winco location, that is now just block from my house, because of how angry this situation makes me... thinking of all the customer who rush over there every night, just to be "turned away" because they "closed early" at 11:45pm. I suggest that you drive to the 102nd St Winco, where the employees are professional, logical, and kind to their customers. I thought Winco was "employee owned?" Why do the employees turn away business? Don't ever expect this location to be open till midnight, because IME, they never are.
I just watched some of employees at this location racial profile a woman of color. They accused her of steeling, put hands on her and kicked product out of her hand with a smile on their faces while she tried to pick up. Product she had paid for and had a receipt for. Eventually the Manager Karen went and looked at the cameras it seems then came out and gave her back the stuff they had physical taken away from her during their assault. I believe the name of the employee who was kicking things to keep her from pick them up was named Tasha started with a T. One of the lost prevention men physically prevented her from leaving at one point as well. They did all this in front of her young daughter as well as in full view of everyone at the checkout. The entire altercation was unnecessary and wildly unprofessional.
A peaceful music-free shopping experience. I interacted with 3 employees and all were kind and respectful. And the prices… seriously good.
, feels like a clean supermarket and a good place to shop with a lot of variety. They have clean, fresh as you can get from Winco fruit/veggies, meat and seafood area with friendly staff. Diversity of people here, some people do look sketchy but they do mind their own business and at the end of the day; we are people just trying to deposit cans or grocery shop. They have a deli perfect for families that want hot/cold foods to go e.g. fried chicken, potato wedges, roasted chicken, soup, salads, sandwiches and party platters. I like the lighting, layout and spacing of this Winco, feels clean and plenty of space for shopping. It’s also easy to find products unlike Fred Meyers, I don’t get lost and overwhelmed. -1 — Can get busy and small Parking lot.
Easy to learn this store. People are well trained and no crazy people lurking.
It has the best prices on everything. But you don’t ever want to take your cans to their machines to get your deposits back. Lines are always long with broken machines.
Got to winco at 11:49 I needed distilled water. There was another lady who came up before me that needed three items. Winco had the door locked with security at the door turning people away. When qe told him what we needed and stated the closing time he simply stated yes but they had to stop taking people to insure the workers got out on time. To me if you close at midnight you leave your doors open until then and you never turn away business. This was very poor service and I would stop going there on principle but they are the only ones who sell distilled water. If you stop taking customer's at a certain time post it so we can accommodate that. Turning customer's away when your still open is a big no in my book especially with the high gas prices.
I know these big stores generally have different layouts compared to other branches within the same chain, but I think whoever did the layout on this one might've legitimately been smoking some crack. Couldn't find half the stuff I came in for and will definitely not be coming back if I can help it.
