This course for the money is terrible. The courses in the surrounding area are in better shape and are vastly cheaper. The greens are patchy, tee boxes are uneven, bunkers are concrete. This course during the weekday cost between 40-50 bucks for 18 and 35 for 9 holes during the week after 5pm which is outrageous. Charwood and oak hills cost $27 for 18 holes and the courses are in great shape. WHERE IS THE MOMEY GOING? YALLS POCKETS?
I really enjoy playing the Woodlands Golf Course. Service is always very good & using the Columbia VIP book our round was reasonably priced. Greens were in excellent shape, hard fast & true. Fairways were very spotty & I sometimes had to search for grass. I think the course condition will improve in a few weeks.
4 of us played at Woodlands today, 9 February. We had not been there in about 3 years course was rough then. The course itself is a good layout. Greens were really good. Really good. Tight and fast, but true. Playing in February, being in the short rough trumps being on the hard, tight fairways. We'll be back. Especially now that I know where that water on 10 is at. Ha.
Especially love 12. but back 9 is my favorite.
A low key but yet a very attractive Country Club located in the northeast part of Columbia. Lot of golfing, and Tennis opportunities. It's a club that is very friendly friendly and a great place to relax at the scenic Clubhouse. Staff is very friendly.
This course is in pretty bad shape. The greens we're horrible no grass just sand. Lot of trash around all the greens. A lot of shots that landed in great places had to be hit off of hard pan. This is definitely not worth the $49 they charge to play this very poorly kept Golf Course. All of the bunkers were well kept. Which unfortunately didn't help me much as I avoid at all but one during my 18 holes.
Typical Columbia SC course. Grass is non-existent. It's obvious the tee boxes and fairways are not being watered. However, they are still mowing the rough and fairways down to nothing, even though there is no grass growing. The only reason to play here at all is for the decent greens, but it's hard to believe this is a semi-private club. I don't have to go back, club members can have this!
I appreciate the fact this club decides to open up to the public during the week of The Masters but their photos online do a great job off hiding the many flaws of their course. Not to mention, I have paid $75 to play courses ten times better in other parts of the country.....this is a $40 course at best! I will never go back and recommend this course to beginning hackers.
You can easily tell that the coarse is going through a transition. You can see many, many bright spots in the coarse and the layout is spectacular. It’s amazing to see the transformation that has taken place since the new owners took over last year. It will be fun to see where it will be over the next few years.
Enjoyed the layout of the course but that is where it ends. I've been playing for 50 years and easily the worst conditioned course ever I've played in north america. Only green was weeds on greens. Fairways no grass Sand traps ok. Will tell others not to waste your $70 Worth $35 at most.
