Decided to check it out because a coworker of mine used to work here. When I went there was only one person on staff thankfully it was a sunday and not too busy so he wasn’t overloaded! He was incredibly quick and kind. The upstairs area was very quiet and warm considering it was only 5 pm i was the only one up there for a bit and got to take it all in! But the downstairs is equally inviting! my anxiety just prefers to be away from the bar drinks were strong i had the mymosa and the bull rider and definitely felt them. Can’t wait to come back with friends!
I liked the aesthetic of this bar. It had a great aura and is the perfect place to have an evening chat. The drinks were so good, and the price was justifiable. I was disappointed by the service though. Whoever was the attendant for the second and third floor just ignored us when we walked in the front door. Then they proceeded to sit another party before us, and I had to verbally ask to be seated. Said person was also just not attentive. I don't know if they were expecting a tip or what the business model is- but they certainly weren't getting one. If this is table service I shouldn't have to sit with an empty water glass for a half hour and ask for more. Additionally the establishment had very sticky, to gross floors. I would have also liked to see some seating configurations which garnered a bit more privacy. Wheelchair accessibility: You may be able to get in the building but it is completely non-inclusive. It is extremely tight and most seating is on the upper floors no elevator. There could be accommodating tables on the first floor for wheelchair users, but unfortunately they are all high-top bars.
Good drinks, charming vibe. Easy candidate for a hangout bar in the quiet early hours of the evening...loved sitting near the windows on the 2nd floor, which is a new candidate for favorite seat at a Philly bar... Wheelchair accessibility: Deeply not accessible... its only flaw, but a significant one
Very cute, eclectic little bar. The upstairs was closed, but the bar downstairs had plenty of seats for the early evening crowd on a Sunday. We enjoyed our two drinks, though a little on the sweet side for my preference. The overall experience was fine. We're down to go and try it again! Love the Lil Nas X mural on the side. It's gorgeous!
I was shocked at the hidden gem feel. There were maybe 10 people there when I came in, it's not crowded, not loud; I was able to get a cocktail and read a book and just chill. It's smaller than I thought it was, so I hope it stays a hidden gem. It's very cute and very clean and the people are super nice and the cocktail menu has a lot of options so I hope to keep coming back.
Writer’s Block Rehab is a cozy and creative cocktail lounge located in the heart of Philadelphia. With its unique literary theme, it offers a tranquil escape for those looking to unwind. The lounge spans three floors, each with its own ambiance, including a comfortable “Library” on the second floor for a more intimate experience. Their menu features an array of inventive drinks, like the turmeric pisco sour and the arugula martini, crafted to inspire and delight. Whether you’re seeking a quiet corner to ponder over prose or a lively spot to share stories with friends, Writer’s Block Rehab is the perfect setting for an evening of relaxation and literary indulgence.
The bartenders were great and the atmosphere was really nice. A good group of people, lots of l conversation in a very warm and open way. We will definitely be back.Service: 5/5
Very cool three level bar with a library theme. Menus are in books and decor is fun. We had the when in drag, coco loco, we three queens and all my lovers. All very unique and tasty drinks
I’ve never written a review for a place in my life but I had to say this is such a great spot! Went there this past weekend and had an excellent time. Good drinks, even better service. The bartender was so kind, and even paid for my partner’s drink because it was their birthday! Gorgeous atmosphere too. Can’t wait to go back.Food: 5/5
Came to this bar from out of town with my cousin. As soon as we walked in, alongside another couple, we all hear the bartender yell "we don't serve children here" All four of us were confused because he didn't look at whoever he was talking to when he said this he just shouted it. I am an adult of short stature. He was talking to/about me. So when he finally looked at me and his colleague asked and confirmed that I was not a child, he apologized profusely. Unsure if i caught him on a bad day, but this interaction from walking in the door was super unnecessary and embarrassing. I appreciate the apology. I appreciate my cousin getting complimentary drinks because i left. I even lowkey appreciate being disrespectfully called young in a roundabout way, since im 30 years old. But if he just would've looked at me instead of glancing at my height then he wouldn'tve shouted "we don't serve children here" so next time, just ask for folks' IDs at the door ‍ if this is supposed to be a safe and inclusive space yall dropped the ball tonight. The place was cute, though. My cousin enjoyed her drinks, so that's why I'm not one starring yall. But yea, long story short, kids don't come here.
