Xpedx no longer deals with the retail public. This means after 25 years of using the store to personally choose all of the specialty cover stock for business portfolios, binder covers, etc, as well as the stock for letterhead and envelopes, they've put in a $50 minimum order threshold and want me to "prove" I'm a business with some kind of certificate...what, an EIN number isn't enough? It's a shame, but if they can do without my business, well, I can buy items online cheaper than I ever did from them...
I honestly think they are trying to go out of business. We've been long-time clients and used to enjoy the selection and ease of finding new papers for our small publishing needs, but not only have they made it HARD to identify what papers they do sell, they have made it hard to purchase the papers we already know we want to get. The latest is that they ordered in a special paper for us and got the wrong item. We ordered the correct item, and they simply references our order history and brought in the same item again despite us being explicit that this was the wrong paper in the first place. Because it was a special order, no returns. This was really the icing on the cake to all of the other changes they made over the last year. We are changing suppliers. If they really want to go out of business, so be it. I'm not sure why they are pretending to stay in business really.
I am currently looking for brochure paper; paper that was always easy to find in the past. For years I shopped at Xpedx on Santa Fe and even before it was Xpedx - forget the name. The employees were always so helpful. It was fun to go there. But then Xpedx bought them out and opened up branches. That was great - for a while. But then the branches closed down and now I can't even buy at the Santa Fe store. Too me, it's sad. I liked the personal touch. I liked it that someone wanted my business, whether I bought a couple of highlighters or 100's of dollars worth of marketing products. The new owners are missing the big picture. You are alienating the very people who made you what you are today.
Like many reviewers, I've been a customer of Xpedx née Dixon Paper for a very long time and I was sad/angry to find out their new policy of a minimum purchase for walk-ins. It made it impossible for me to purchase products from them so they've lost my business. Luckily there's a great resource not too far away PaperPlus.
Closed! Out of business! How this wonderful place to buy all kinds of paper, cardstock and other paper goods has decided to change and then change again, until it is no longer serving such a needed purpose is beyond me.
Great selection with fantastic customer service
