I love this shop. Super friendly and welcoming - and they go out of their way to make marginalized communities who are often overlooked in the Midwest crafting communities know they are safe and welcome there. They do require masks and will provide one if you don’t have them - so it’s a safe shopping experience even for people with compromised immune systems. They have so many quality fibers. My last purchase included Kim Dyes Yarn in the most vibrant red color a hard shade to find sometimes! and the prettiest pink sock yarn from Goosey Fibers. So glad to have this shop within easy driving distance!
My girlfriend took me to this place. The people that work here are so nice and friendly! The store is beautiful. Honestly it makes me want to learn how to knit and that’s something I never thought I’d be into! Again everyone is so kind and friendly.
Oh I absolutely love this little yarn shop! They have the nicest and most helpful staff. Plus, I recently discovered they have a staff member, Carina, who offers mending services - yay! She's helped me a lot the last few months because I was not diligent with my sweater storage which resulted in a few holes in my favorite sweaters. Also the help sessions are great. I love going in the shop for a Mistake Monday or a paid session to have one-on-one time. As a self-taught knitter, I'm always learning something new. The best part, I never feel like I ask a dumb question - they are all so nice and supportive of the craft that I continue to visit the shop. Now, I need to get pop in and buy more yarn, as if my stash isn't overflowing already. ha! My next goal, is to attend social hours so I can begin making a dent in my stash. Keep being awesome and I'll keep supporting you!
Yarn Social truly lives up to their name. I have spent many happy hours at craft nights working on my latest cross stitch projects. I was so thrilled when they started carrying embroidery floss in store! Staff are always super friendly, willing to answer questions, or just chat about your WIPs! They are also obviously very skilled and creative people, and I love to see what THEY'RE working on! Can't say enough good things about this shop, and I recommend it to everyone I can.
I’ve been coming here for 3+ years, & it just keeps getting better and better! I learned how to knit from Em in a class, and I’ve met some of my favorite people during the Thursday social hours. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. And if a mask requirement is the price I have to pay to keep my friends here safe, I’ll do it as long as they want! Pictured are yarns and a book I picked up here during local yarn store day. Love the incredible selection of hand dyed they offer, as well as the budget wool options! Best shop in KC by a mile!
Good yarn stores are so hard to find but worth it when you find one. I was at the grand opening of Yarn Social a few years ago when a friend told me about it. I was thrilled! And even though I don’t live in KC anymore, visiting YS is one of my proud not guilty pleasures. I was there just earlier this year when in town and walking in was like visiting an old friend. The environment is welcoming to all, and that combined with beautiful, high quality, unique and familiar yarn makes it a place I’ll always come home to. See y’all next visit!!! Photo is yarn from last visit used.
Such a lovely store with a great selection of yarn, needles, notions and more. We were visiting KC from Canada and were looking for a yarn store to stop at and we were so happy to stop here, the staff are incredibly helpful and friendly and the store layout is wonderful as well. If you’re in the area you definitely need to stop and check it out.
I love this yarn shop. I've been treated with nothing but utmost kindness and given quite a bit of very helpful advice every time I've popped in. The yarn selection is gorgeous even if it's a tad pricey, you get what you pay for: top quality and the social hour groups are chill and welcoming to new faces. I only wish it was a tad closer to any one of the bus stops but it's definitely a manageable walk in decent weather. I'd be here way more if the travel distance was a bit shorter.
Cute yarn shop! And very helpful. She helped me pick a good yarn for the project I was starting and even shipped me more when I ran out. The attached photo is my finished project using that yarn
Don't bother... was looking for some great yarns for daughter and the description and pictures are just what we were looking for, but what they really sell here are politics. It's 2024 and they want you to wear a mask to show fidelity before you can enter. BLM and everywhere. Just sell yarn.
