This place had every opportunity to be amazing. It is located in a great location, and is clean and brightly lit. They have enough clean accessories for their clients. And the teachers are amazing. Welcoming - even if you're curvy like me. Nobody ever told me not to try something. And, they were able to give me adaptations for exercises that I couldn't do. The teachers love what they do, and they inspire the students. It was Wonderful... sort of. I had gotten involved with Yogawood because I wanted to engage with the town. I worked at a hospital in Philadelphia and it dominated most of my time. I enjoy yoga and barre, so I decided to start taking classes there. After a year, the only person who would speak to me beyond short polite exchanges was the person at the front desk. People would hang out for a short time after and talk about life and things. Everyone seemed to know everyone - even the instructors. But, any time I tried to partake in the conversation, they would just look at me. It was like high school all over again. Still, I liked the classes, so I kept going. Then the pandemic hit. As I mentioned, I worked at a hospital. Yogawood had indicated that they would hold the money/credits for any healthcare workers. I thought this was fabulous. When they moved their classes online, I went to take a few, and was told that my money was no longer on file. Apparently, there was some small print that said they would only hold it for a limited amount of time. They took my $60. I spoke to several people about it, and they all said it was the policy. I never went back. Over a $60 credit - that I had pre-paid - they lost a client for life. Now that I've moved and my company gives me free yoga, and people are friendly and inviting, I remember what it was like at Yogawood... that had so much potential to be amazing.
Great Yoga studio. Great atmosphere and I even love the floor here!!! It's like a big solid piece of polished wood, it somehow makes you feel in tune with the earth when you are on it. I've taken the Free Meditation class on Thursdays at 10:30, and Gentle Yoga with Stephanie at 11:15. Stephanie is an angel and I wish she taught more classes! This class is great for beginners, great if you have a lot on your mind and you need to let go. At my first class, another woman told me that Stephanie is a "warm, gentle soul" and that's why her class is popular, and it's totes true!
My experience at Yogawood has been sublime, extraordinary, incredible. From the group of supportive, nurturing & knowledgable teachers, to the inviting atmosphere, each time I go to class, it only gets better. I highly recommend Yogawood to those who are beginners to the advanced yogis. It truly welcomes & nourishes all who enter.
Everything. It's everything. Everything I've ever wanted and had yet to even imagine I could have in a Yoga studio. If you are looking for an experience, some help vacuuming your attic, and a challenging asana practice, you are well advised to check out the schedule. All abilities welcome. Love!
