Awesome middle eastern location! I was surprised to have iPads for menus, though we couldn’t order off of them. Absolutely loved their version of pita bread, it was fluffy, soft, and warm. We ordered the lamb and chicken shawarma dishes and we were not disappointed. The lamb was super tender.
Come here with friends, come here on a date, come here with whoever or by yourself! You're bound to have a good time! I’m getting excited thinking about the next time I’ll go and it’s only been a few days. Literally, everything was perfection from the drinks, to the food, to the service, to the music. I would ask for extra hummus for the chicken Shawarma. It’ll also go well with the lamb chops! Vegetarian options: A lot of the appetizers are vegetarian Dietary restrictions: Gluten, free options
I was craving for some Mediterranean cuisine, so I randomly found ZiZi and gave it a try. Loved how different Z selections. We ordered hummus, baba ganoush, and falafels. They were really good! Pita bread was also soft and warm. We also ordered overnight lamb. Compared to Zs, overnight lamb was ok. Nothing special. Tried better ones before. We got complementary chocolate mousse which was nice! The restaurant is a bit too noisy, so not suitable for date nights.
Loved this restaurant! My husband and I went here for dinner before going the The Whitney. We were there early so not crowded. We ate outside which had great dog and people watching. We had the cauliflower for an appetizer. I had the oyster mushroom skewer and my husband had overnight lamb. Good options for vegetarians! Our food was great. The staff was very friendly and provided good service.
Zizi is a nice spot for a Mediterranean meal in the Chelsea area. The place has a rustic vibe, I am sure it would look good in the night with all the candles lighted up in the walls. Liked their dip Crazy Baba and pita and the fact that everything tasted fresh. The portion size is good as well. Although felt that there could have been more options, especially in the dips. Every item looked good in the menu so we ordered a lot variety. I must say I had more expectations, therefore, I felt that the food lacked flavors. It was more aesthetically pleasing, flavor wise just decent. The shakshuka didn't feel like a shakshuka, it was a soup rather. The bread in the Mushroom sandwich was hard as a rock making it difficult to eat. The puff pastry was good and crispy but the dish as a whole was just okay. For a Mediterranean place, their hummus was too plain and basic. I have had better hummus in other Mediterranean restaurants in NYC. The only thing I can vouch for is their pita bread- really good and freshly made. Otherwise the food felt just plain and simple not extraordinary. They didn't deliver according to the expectations. Also didn't find the staff to be friendly and engaging. They were just doing their duty. I feel the restaurant has the potential to do much better.
Updated review: Zizi used to be one of my fav restaurants in Town as you can see from my below review that i made in Jan 2022. Today i went back and got a babaganoush and hummus, the taste was very bad and absolutely nothing like it used to be. The chef might have changed or the ingredients. Other dishes might still be good but don’t expect to taste a delicious hummus. My server was very nice and accomodating. ———— Zizi is a delicious mediterranean restaurant in Chelsea. The owner are Israeli and they named the restaurant after a woman character of the ‘70 Their food is so flavourful and good. We ordered the bagel, hummus which comes with their very own pita, falafel, grilled salmon and shawarma. Loved the vibe, enteriors and the whole experience. I will absolutely go back and dine at Zizi. Jan 2022
Dare I say the best Israeli breakfast in town? There I said it. Not to mention Emmet is a phenomenal waiter with an even more phenomenal sense of style. The burekas and eggplant with chickpea dish were both unique and left a lasting impression. My only hesitation in posting this review is that I won’t be able to get a table easily in the future!
Came here around 8:15pm on a Tuesday without a reservation and was able to get the last two spots at the bar. The restaurant was at about 90% capacity, so if we were there half an hour earlier we probably would not have been able to get seated. Overall, I liked the vibe and decor of the place. We got the trio appetizer and my friend was obsessed with the crazy baba and I loved the sea bass and the pita from the appetizer. The desserts also looked bomb, but we ended up going next door for another drink and desserts, so I didn’t try them.
I went on a Saturday afternoon when it wasnt busy . The food was really good and flavorful BUT it took too long for anything to get done. To put my order in took 20 mins, and another 20+ to get anything outside of the cocktail my partner had. Mind you we only ordered appetizers. Then there was a mix up with the appetizer and I had to ask twice for it to be corrected and then that took another 20 minutes to be exchanged. We were ready to go and asked for the bill…that took another 20 minutes AND asking three people to get it! Jeez.
Casually walking through the city of NYC, we passed by the place and the atmosphere of this restaurant caught our attention. Excellent food, atmosphere and service.Food: 5/5
