As much as I hate to write a bad review for a company especially a small business, I feel compelled to do so because there was a culmination of things that happened. My three daughters purchased for me a spa day for Christmas. It was a day for the four of us to spend together. I chose to have a massage as part of the European Package. The description of the massage was nothing as described: “light pressure that allows you to relax”. Being a person who frequently gets massages and has worked with several massage therapists, I can honestly tell you this was by far thee worst massage ever. I don’t see what is so relaxing about someone pulling your hair to where it hurts, sticking their fingers in your ears, being aggressive with their touch and sitting on your foot and slapping your thighs. My oldest daughter said the same thing when she got out of her massage. Then when my daughters went to pay, they noticed the price wasn’t correct. When they asked the girl at the front desk, she said there was a price increase and that my daughters should have been notified. She never mentioned honoring the original price. The price increase was $30 per person for a total of $120 that my daughters were not expecting to pay. Also, the package was supposed to come with a snack as listed on their website and we were never offered that. That obviously isn’t a deal breaker and worthy of a bad review but it just added to the fact that we were not treated fairly. The owner told my daughter that the spa couldn’t serve snacks due to COVID but couldn’t figure out how to change the website. However, I recently noticed that the website has been modified and the snack is no longer listed. SO BASICALLY, MY DAUGHTERS PURCHASED FOUR EUROPEAN SPA PACKAGES, WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PRICE INCREASE AS THEY WERE TOLD THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN AND WAS NOT GIVEN WHAT WAS ADVERTISED ON THE WEBSITE……. AND RECEIVED TWO LOUSY MASSAGES ON TOP OF IT ALL. After we all “compared notes”, my daughter emailed the owner, Christine, a very nice and thorough letter to discuss our concerns with her. After a few days of being put off and ignored, Christine called my daughter and basically negated everything that happened. All my daughter asked for was to get a refund for the difference in price and Christine said no. She only offered a 20% off on the next visit. Why would we ever come back here though? I had no intention of writing a review about this spa but the four of us feel that everyone should be aware of how the owner conducts business. I will say the atmosphere, the ladies working there even the horrible masseuse and the facials per my other two daughters were wonderful. However, you are taking a chance by getting services here. I would recommend you look elsewhere before spending this much money on a spa day.
Honestly, I really wanted to support this small business but I feel it's my obligation to warn people to proceed with caution here. First of all, between the time the appointment was booked and the actually date of the appointment, the prices had apparently been raised, but I wasn’t told of this until AFTER the service was rendered. I should have been told before the appointment that the price we previously agreed on was now a lot higher. That situation felt very deceiving and sneaky. On top of this, the massage I received was horrible. It was unlike any other massage I have received. It was very rough, jerky, and not at all relaxing. I also received a shellac manicure and within 4 days all of my nails were chipping off. I was able to speak with the owner, but all she offered was a discount in the future and refused to even refund the price difference that I wasn’t warned about. The girls that work here are very nice, and the pedicure was good, but that’s all I can say unfortunately. I would recommend going elsewhere for your spa needs.
To start, I want to say that I had a fun day at this spa. However, the main reason it was enjoyable was because of the group I was with. The employees at the spa were all very kind and the facial was great, but we faced some issues otherwise. First, the massage that we received was literally the worst massage. Emphasis on the worst. When you’re looking forward to getting a massage and it turns out being extremely uncomfortable and not at all relaxing, it’s disappointing. Second, we booked our appointments two months in advance for a specific price. Unbeknownst to us, the prices increased between us booking the appointments and the actual appointments. The least they could have done was warn that we would be paying an extra $120 for the services. Instead, we did not know until the appointments were complete and we were paying. Rather than honoring the price we agreed on when booking, we had to pay the increased price. Raising your prices is fine, but expecting someone to pay a significant amount of extra money than what they had agreed to was unprofessional and unsettling given the quality of the massage. Third, we all received manicure and pedicures with shellac nail polish. In my experience, shellac lasts at least two weeks before peeling. In this case, all of our nails were peeling off within 1-5 days of the service. We had no intention of publicly criticizing a small business online and even went as far as emailing them our concerns privately first to resolve the problem. However, we were only offered a discount for a future visit rather than a refund for the $120 extra charge. Why would we want to re-visit a place that we had a below average experience at the first time around? We are not interested in returning and that weak attempt to resolve this issue furthered the problem and our irritation. Just based on our experience during and after the spa day, I wouldn’t recommend this spa. There’s so many other options that, at this point, I wish we would have chosen initially.
My sisters, mom and I visited a day away spa about a week ago. We bought 4 of the European packages. The staff was friendly, however, I would not recommend this spa to anyone. 1. We booked 4 appointments back in November. Everything was set, however when we went to pay after the appointments a week ago, they then decided to tell us the prices increased by $30. The receptionist said someone was supposed to tell us prices could increase, however they failed to do so. So we then had to pay an additional $30/person. 2. My mom and sister’s masseuse was beyond horrible. I cannot speak for them but they both were very disappointed. They described it as “aggressively rubbing oil all over their bodies”. Not relaxing. They both have had plenty of massages before and they said this was by far the most bizarre experience they have ever had. 3. On their site, a part of the European package is a “snack”. We never received it. Even though this seems like something minor to complain about, we feel after everything else it’s necessary to bring up. 4. We tried to wait to leave a review to see if the management at a day away spa would make this right. But the owner Christine chose not to. I was supposed to be called to go over everything on Saturday and she chose to ignore the situation and not call me. I want to throw in, the facials were great and we enjoyed getting our nails done, but we really do feel that we were taken advantage of, not heard, and do not want others to spend money on this type of treatment.
Always enjoy my visit worth the drive for me. I had a beautiful massage and then a fantastic facial with Andrea, such a pleasant personality. Can’t wait to come back!
This place is located in the bottom of what looks like an apt. Complex. The ladies were all very nice, but super chatty. If you like a nice quiet spa treatment I would look somewhere else. Also, in other spa's I have been too the "comfort area" was isolated so you didn't see anyone besides the professionals when they came to grab you. Here they frequently walk past you. Also, the package⁶7 I got was supposed to include a complimentary lunch which I did not get. I would probably go back here if I was only getting one service done. I would not go back for a package deal.
The massage Jessica was amazing, the facial Stacy was amazing. Would highly recommend these two ladies to do these services again.
The facial and the massage I received was just what I needed to unwind and relax!
