I am the sole proprietor of a consulting business and have had Jon Vert at ATS do my income taxes the last two years. Last April I filed an extension and promptly forgot about them until Oct. 14, the day before the extension deadline. I contacted Jon and told him I would bring my documentation in the next day, and I accepted that the filing would be late due to me not getting him the necessary information in a timely manner. To my surprise he was able to complete my return and file them before the end of the day on the 15th, helping me avoid costly penalties. Jon's fee structure is based on a fixed charge per form rather than hourly so you have a pretty good idea of what it will cost you prior to hiring him. I'm sure I could save a little money if I shopped around aggressively an accountant working out of his home will have less overhead but Jon's service is good and the prices are fair.
