We loved the Abilene Zoo! It's a small Zoo but it's expanding. It was such a pretty walk, very clean, lots of fun things for kids and adults. I was just really impressed with how pretty and green it was. The service throughout was great too!
Prices for entry are incredibly reasonable. It doesn't look like a big zoo, but there are actually quite a lot of animals to see. It was a lovely way to spend a day with my family, and we had a wonderful time.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$6–10
Wonderful small zoo! Two visits to review- January 10 and March 15, 2023. The Jan 10 visit was mid week on a warm winter weekday and we had the place practically to ourselves. Many Christmas decorations were still up to enjoy which made us want to go back in December to see it all lit up. Feeding the giraffes was so fun. Feeding the fish at the lake observation deck was enjoyable too- there was a gumball type machine for getting fish food. The March 15 visit was colder and windy and very crowded with spring break visitors. There were special shows that day to enjoy. The sand play area was enjoyed by younger children. The train and carousel were fun to do. The gift shop is large and well stocked. Parking is level, paved and ample. Near highway access and airport. A splash pad is next for summer fun. Such a great place for families to enjoy!
Great place to take the family! I enjoyed this zoo than alot of the bigger ones! Might not be as big but the kids enjoyed all the animals! And you get to feed the giraffes!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$16–20
What a wonderful zoo, my sister and I took her three little grandchildren and although it was a hot day we were able to stay cool because they have so many shaded areas and inside attractions. We finished the morning with a train ride. The zoo was perfect for us not to big but big enough.
This is a great zoo! Lots to see and do for the kids and reasonably priced. Go early, like when it opens to avoid the crowd. Still isn't very crowded later in the day but I enjoyed having free reign. Must do the giraffe experience!Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$11–15
During our previous visit to the zoo, it was too hot and we were unable to see some of the animals. However, this time, the cool weather allowed us to observe animals such as the lemurs and leopards, which were out and about. Unfortunately, the ZooSalut ceremony was cancelled due to rain, but we still enjoyed a complimentary meal and ice cream after the rain subsided.
Went on the weekend near the end of April. Most animals were out. Only 37 bucks for a family of 6 at the time of this review. This was mostly for our toddlers. They loved it. Our 3 year old had never seen so many real animals before so close. It was magical for her. It's a good-sized zoo, clean, and easy to get around. You can feed the giraffes and a few other animals. There is a mini train ride as well. Definitely worth going.
Having lived in multiple big cities for comparison, the Abilene Zoo does NOT disappoint! My children age 8 and 11 still beg to go every time we visit grandparents and they love it. They've loved it since they were born and still do all these years later.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Wow. This zoo is depressing I came to have a good time instead I was traumatized . I have never seen something so sad in my life. Animals didn’t have enough room to walk around. Every single last animal looked sick and poorly taken care of.Visited onWeekendReservation recommendedNo
