My mother and I visited Abington Hills Cemetery on a whim since we were visiting in the area. I didn’t see an office building so I called the phone number listed. The owner/manager picked up after a few rings on a Saturday and walked us through the cemetery so to speak, assisting us with directions on how to locate our loved one’s grave. The owner was very professional and he went out of his way to ensure we located the proper grave. I would highly recommend Abington Hills Cemetery, every cemetery should adopt their customer service standards!
On Saturday, June 26, 2021 I visited the Abington Cemetery in Clarks Summit, PA to bring some flowers to my grandmothers grave. What I found was piles of grass clippings spread all over many of the grave sites. Since it’s been my responsibility of taking care of two graves sites I have found Abington Hills Cemetery to be very poorly maintained. Whomever cuts the grass runs the mower over all the graves and rather than remove ornamental items they just cut around them. They do no trimming that I have noticed. I visit this grave approximately 3-4 times per year when possible. I have never been happy with this facility. Today I found many sections of the cemetery with grass approximately 8-12 inches tall. I’m not sure what the problem is or what the solution is but I’m so disgusted with this visit that if I could move my grandmother to another cemetery I would do it in a minute. I had been looking for my fathers grave and finally found it by accident today. He died in 2007 and his second wife in 2020 and I’d bet that the grave has not been cut or trimmed in nearly two years. In addition there were major piles of grass clippings and rocks all over this grave. This is a total disrespect to a WWII veteran. I do have pictures of this grave. Whomever is responsible for maintaining this cemetery should be released immediately and taken over by the county.
Not particularly spooky but the roads are plentiful and rather fun to drive on. Trees are very old. Very quiet and restful. Have yet to explore entire cemetery.
