Was in ER waiting room on Sunday when a half-naked man ran past security into the waiting room. Luckily the automatic door to the ER was closed at the time so he ran down a hall, grabbed a fire extinguisher, began banging it on the walls and ultimately disharged it. He was trapped in the hallway where he was tazed, and ultimately subdued by the police. There were no evident security protocols in place during yhos event and the only thing the hospital staff did for the 20 people in the waiting room was to yell at some of them to stop filming and they made us stand in a corner. For the people waiting at the admissions window they pulled those folks inside a secured area. Wasn't the safest feeling and I shudder to think how it could have gone down if he got loose with that fire extinguisher. A nurse supervisor came out and I tried to share my observations about the incident, but she dismissed me and said "we'll look at the film." I called the hospital the next day to report the incident and lack of guidance from the hospital staff. I was told I would get a call back from the Security Supervisor and never did. Be cautious if you go to the ER here and have to wait in the waiting room. You may wind up in the ER for other reasons. Definitely sharing my concerns with friends and family.
The lack of compassion for a family experiencing loss is utterly devastating. I understand there are protocols but delivery is everything. The entire family came down from the room to explain why so many people are visiting and instead of professionally explaining what had to take place. The receptionist is yelling. There's a right way to do things and her practices aren't it. She called security who were extremely rude but that's to be expected... After 40 minutes of causing trauma to a family experiencing loss, she then allows multiples to go upstairs. I guess policy went out of the door. This was baffling.
Had an amazing experience in labor and delivery. Although my son was stillborn, the staff on L&D were incredible. Absolutely incredible. Caring, compassionate, gentle… every last nurse and doctor that came in to care for me during one of the worst times of my life, couldn’t have asked for a better care team. Thank you. Thank you. God bless you all.
Has gone downhill. Hospital is not clean and needs a makeover. Wait times are long to get a room. Nurse was robotic and didn't seem to like her job. Techs are all amazing and kind and the doctors are good. That is the only reason for 3 stars. My room was dirty tray table with crumbs from last guest. Dried liquid of some sort on triage room floor. The put an IV in and took blood and urine and sent me back to the waiting room. Also the print out they gave me looked like it was printed by a 10 yr old printer. It used to be an amazing facility.
Had the pleasure of meeting the wonderful staff at Abington Jefferson Hospital! My husband was having a short procedure at 6:30 am in Widener Ground Floor and we were greeted happily by the valet staff the receptionist GI department Nurse Linda Dr Steve G Harper Nurse Anita Dr Burgess anesthesiologist Craig anesthesia nurse. We thank you for the exemplary service and now I will schedule my procedure
Abington Hospital seemed to go downhill after they were acquired by Jefferson Health. Recently had to take my wife there to be evaluated, the ER was a mess and took forever. They are quick to register you and take your vitals a quick trick to bill your insurance for Triage Care in case you leave before actually being treated by an ER doctor then you sit in an overcrowded waiting room for 3-4 hours. This hospital used to be so good, it’s a shame what it has become.
I had my son a year ago and I’m still traumatized. The labor and delivery department were horrible I was induced and I stayed 2 days and nothing was happening I was worried because the first night my babies heart stopped and they came in the room running had to put on all 4s … I was looked at by so many people I didn’t have just one or 2 doctors I lost count because they were sending in students when I specifically asked I didn’t want students to take care of me I didn’t want to feel like an experiment and that’s how I felt . A doctor came in or nurse and popped my water to soon and my baby was in danger and I was with my poor mom and she kept telling them why are they waiting so long to take care of me they need to help me give birth or get me ready for a C-section we kept asking for a doctor and there was no doctors around ! I decided on a c section and one doctor kept ignoring me and kept telling me about other options it was a horrible a experience . I wish I remembered a really nice nurse she realized what the doctor or the other nurse was telling me and she gave me a look like yes you need a C-section quick as soon as she heard me she went to look for a doctor she had everything set up for me so quick she knew me and my baby were in danger after my c section was done the doctor said that was the best decision my baby was stuck ! me and my baby stayed a week at the hospital he got sick and was in the icu and I lost so much blood it was at 3 I was not taken good care of I wonder if I was a different race if my experience would of been different. I should of known to go somewhere else when the doctor for my prenatal care disappeared and I wasn’t given any information about it at all . Please go somewhere else I wouldn’t want someone else to experience what I did he is my first child and I had to go through ivf just to have him and to go through something like this which it was malpractice ..
I recently had my baby here. If I could give zero stars, I would. Let me start off by saying labor and delivery was amazing, nurses were great, etc. However, once I went to recovery, it was one of the worst experiences. I had been induced and was exhausted. My sweet baby was sleeping and I was excited to get a little rest. The bed was one of those meant to reduce bed sores on bed ridden patients. This means it moved every few minutes. I got zero rest. There was no way to turn this feature off unless you unplug the bed and then it deflated. The nurses were terrible. I asked to check out so I could go home and rest. I was met with snotty attitudes. My daughter and I were both perfectly healthy, I required no help or assistance from them. I wasn't in pain at all. It's obvious they were more concerned about making the extra money me staying there generated. I was exhausted and it would have been best for my mental and physical health to be home. I would recommend going anywhere but here to give birth.
I am currently an inpatient at Abington hospital. I suffered an accident and underwent surgery. Prior to the surgery, my care was nothing less than stellar on second floor trauma. Nurses were very attentive and caring. The surgery went well- completely impressed with attending. After the surgery, I was moved to the ortho floor.the level of care quickly changed I vomited 6 times despite getting zofran and asked the covering resident to come see me - no one came. The intern came around a little past midnight to do his morning rounds and he said no one notified him. The nurse taking care of me could not add correctly - oxycodone is every 4 hours - last dose at 650 said I could get it again at 10? Left a covered needle in my bed AND trying to get me to eat I vomited 6 times not to mention they sent over another patients tray of puréed diabetic food. As a physician myself, I am appalled by the care I didn’t receive from the residents and nursing staff. It’s 3 am and I am counting down the hours until discharge.
Holy guacamole with cheese and sprinkles why does this place have a 2.5 star rating?? After I messed up my other knee, you'll know why if you've been keeping up, I came to Jefferson Abington Hospital and they were super professional and caring! Even though they were very busy, the doctors and nurses took care of me in a good amount of time. Dr. Greene, Ty, and their coworker whose name I sadly cannot remember were incredibly kind and helpful. They brought me everything I needed and made me feel comfortable. Yeah, I know everyone's experience is different, but I'm just so surprised that people had a bad time! XOXO, Timmy's Dad/ Mr. Turner
