Don't expect Adult Medicine to deal with prescriptions that need pre-authorization from your insurance. On Tuesday the pharmacy told me the prescription needed preauthorization. I have called several times a day each of Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. It is now 6:45 pm on Friday and they are now closed without getting pre-authorization for pain meds for my shingles! I am in excrutiating pain! They had nearly an entire week to accomplish this! This is an appalling lack of response in the care of their patients! I hate having to leave even a one star rating. This deserves several negative stars!!!! Also every year my primary leaves and I have to "establish" with a new doctor. This year I tried to "establish" in January and finally will establish May 8. How is that for prompt service. I am considering whether the low copay is worth it!!!
I called this afternoon because I have a UTII've had many in my past. Dr. Garcia called me back within an hour & listened to me! He's calling in a script & was very empathetic!
On January 31, 2022, I arrived at the Optum Adult Clinic at Journal Center to check in for my appointment to get prescription refills, and I coughed. It was a small clearing-throat cough but the desk clerk Alice asked if I had COVID symptoms. I said no, that I was asthmatic and had had a cold two weeks before. She told me I needed to be tested anyway and rudely demanded that I get back in my car and park in a weird side lot. When I expressed confusion, she threatened to cancel my doctor’s appointment. Ten minutes later, a medical assistant Sharon walked outside and shoved the swab up my nose so hard it made my nose bleed. She half apologized saying, “I didn’t even push in the swab as far as I should have.” Thirty-five minutes later I got a call on my cell phone, “You can come in now.” When I finally saw the doctor a hour after my appointment, he said he thought I was a no-show because no one told him I was getting a COVID test. He also said the desk clerk should never have ordered the test because she isn’t a medical professional. Never in my left have I been treated so disrespectfully by a medical establishment. This experience clearly demonstrates the profound lack of professionalism by Optum and the extreme dysfunction of health care in Albuquerque.
I love my primary doctor! I hate Optum! I had been with them for 30plus years starting back when they were part of the Lovelace system. Now I get charged for a follow up to get my blood test results. We got charged for an MRI, the appt AND them so called sending it out for the test to be reviewed! Our insurance company even called to have them do a coding review.... If you don't pay your bill within the 60 days they will send you to collections! This happened to us trying to get a coding review and I found out it happened to our neighbor.
Thay did grate for me
Not the worst services you can get as they have x Ray techs, specialty doctors in case you are in need of quick care. Only problem Ive had with them was how quick the doctors change had a good doctor, and obgyn at this location was not notified when they left the medical group and it was a pain to schedule an appointment with any new doctors. They are particularly picky on medical plans as mine changed I could not even go back if I wanted to, as they no longer accepted that medical plan.
Dr May listened and offered a plan to help me with my health issues. I think he will be a good doctor for me. The receptionist who checked me in was condescending. The woman who checked me out was of no assistance when asked about a location on the Westside for bloodwork. She wouldn't even try to help. I have been in NM one month. I find that people are either very kind and helpful, or condescending and downright rude.
They are inaccessible by phone .they put you on hold for 5 min. Plus, Then drop your call. No accessibility equals poor quality of care. When my doctor left it took the two months to be willing to give me a new doctor. They are chronically understaffed
While I do not have any complaints about the quality of care, I found the billing department to be disconcertingly sloppy and disorganized. After waiting for the verdict on a bill review for five months, without hearing anything from DaVita, I received a letter from a collection agency. Upon receiving the letter, I contacted the DaVita billing department. They confirmed both the existence of the review request and that there was no record of communicating the verdict to me. Additionally, their contractor that mails the bills mistyped my street number even though DaVita had the correct address in its system. To say these mistakes were an inconvenience is an understatement.
Very fast service but unfortunately to their detriment. You cannot compromise quality of care for rapid service. I will be looking to have my ultrasound done again at another facility. Being asked “did I get the area” does not foster faith in a health system that is newer to ABQ. Downfall of corporate models in healthcare.
