Abraham Jaquith House

Description

The Abraham Jaquith House, also known as Farley Garrison house, is a historic house formerly at 161 Concord Road in Billerica, Massachusetts. The house was built ca. 1725. The date is based on architectural details; the survey report by architectural historian Nora Pat Small is available for download on the MACRIS website.HistoryThe Abraham Jaquith house is also known as the Farley Garrison house. The western half of the house was built in the early 18th century, and the eastern half of the house was built in the twentieth century. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1991. In 2000, building owner Peter Jaquith Casey had the house disassembled and stored in New Hampshire in order to preserve it. Parts of the structure were dismantled and re-assembled on 12 acres in Gilmanton, New Hampshire by Gilmanton resident Douglas Towle in 2010, who then sold it as a private dwelling, with additional reconstructions, such as a barn typical of the 1700–1800s and an old schoolhouse and corn crib. It is unknown whether the reconstruction included a new reproduction of the eastern half of the house, or whether the twentieth century reproduction still exists.
