We help families meet the special needs of their infants, children, and adult family members who have disabilities.
Abrazos' programs and services are extended to individuals - and their families - through three signature programs: (1) The Family Infant Toddler/Early Intervention program works with babies diagnosed with development delays, or who are at risk of developmental delays, up to the age of 3 years providing in-home help to the babies and their parents so babies are better equipped to meet developmental milestones; (2) The Respite Program provides routine much-needed breaks for the daily care provider of an individual with disabilities, while also providing a much-needed break for the individual who relies upon that daily care provider...and this program helps individuals of all ages; and (3) The Autism After-School Program is a one-of-a-kind program in the metro area offered in collaboration with Rio Rancho Public School system, which offers a safe, structured after-school environment for students in middle school with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnosis while keeping them focused on functional academics, communication and socialization skills - the largest barriers to self-sufficiency for individuals who have autism.
These services and programs are provided based upon three important criteria: (1) programs are free, although recently the pilot Autism After-School Program has requested a modest monthly participation fee, however families are never declined participation if they are unable to pay that fee; (2) there are no annual income requirements for program acceptance (Abrazos has served the most affluent in the metro area and the most impoverished with the same distinction and dedication over the past 35 years); and (3) anyone can refer for Abrazos' services/programs (including self-referrals).
Our mission is to support children and adults with developmental delays, developmental disabilities and Autism through family-centered services.
