So...we moved into a house that already had an ADT system installed. We'd never used ADT, but I thought "how bad could they be"? Because we were new in the house, but the system was not, I requested that all equipment be changed out so we could start fresh. The technician did not do that. Within 2 months the first failure happened - a door sensor LITERALY fell off the door as we were leaving the house unbeknownst to me. Two of Blount County's finest made a needless call to our house due to this mishap. Then due do a faulty modem that needed to be replaced our doorbell and cameras had to be reset - MANUALLY. While the faulty modem is no fault of theirs, the inability to reset equipment through the web site, app or panel is a significant design flaw. I was charged close to $300 for this pleasure. Now the battery in another door sensor is "low". I called last week to request a new battery & they kindly sent me 4, but they are the WRONG SIZE for my equipment. After waiting on hold for almost an hour, I found out that they "no longer ship" the size batteries our sensors use. Luckily, I found them on Amazon. This is not our first security system - we've had 3 other systems all different providers in 3 other cities. But ADT wins the prize for inefficiency, unreliability and poor customer service. Now we are locked into a 36 month contract with a shoddy and unreliable product. If you're in the market for a security system, do yourself a favor and choose another company. ANY other company.
ADT products do not work! Asked for a tech to come out and fix them was told we had to pay a fee for them to come fix the defective product! Then was hung up by customer support when asking to speak to a manager.
This is the absolute worst service. Only thing they were all over was installing and getting the signed contract. I have never been able to resolve a problem in one call. It takes hours and hours and hours on the phone to get anything trouble shot or fixed. The last time was just to change batteries in the smoke detector. After 3 days of calling still not resolved. Better to buy a smoke detector from Home Depot and Arlo Camera than waste time with this company.
I have for over 1year trying to get 2 cameras added to my CCTV system and I can’t believe that after a 900 mile trip to my Tennesee home with cameras being the entire reason. I’ve done everything possible to make this happen, including signing a contract and payment of over $300. As BBC a deposit and today it’s finally got me up to I’ll be changing service providers and I’m forever after 25 years of ADT. DONE with this company.
I didn't visit the ADT store but I do have two security systems they monitor. Overall I think they do a good job.
After over 20 years of having ADT, I am terribly disappointed. My bill is wrong EVERY month. I have spent hours and hours on the phone with so many different people who all tell me something different. What a disaster. I will NEVER use ADT again.
Overall, I would say I am satisfied with the services I have been provided through Protect Your Home. When I called to inquire about an advertisement I received and set up an appointment for installation, everyone I spoke with on the phone was extremely helpful and accommodating. Similarly, the technicians who came to my home to install the security system were very helpful and polite. However, I was not prepared for what a sales job it turned into. The reason I called and decided to have the system installed was because the offer advertised a free security system with a $99 installation fee. After I called to find out more that is exactly what I was told and no one tried to do a major sales job over the phone. I felt comfortable with what I thought I would be getting so I decided to go through with it. Then I was completely blindsided when the technician tried to sell me over $6000 worth of security equipment. The more he told me how it worked the more I realized how misleading the advertisement was and felt a lot of pressure to make decisions on the spot about spending more money than I had anticipated. It got to the point that I just had to tell him that I was not planning on spending more than the $99 I had already agreed to based on the advertisement. It was pretty uncomfortable and in the end I was even unsure of the decisions I had made on the spot. I don't fault the technician at all, I know he was doing exactly what he was trained to do, and he was very respectful. But I was very disappointed and felt like I was being taken advantage of by Protect Your Home. It took several days of sleeping on it and considering it before I decided that I was ok with everything. But I definitely considered the 3 day period I had to cancel service. All of that said, I really do value the security system and am glad that I have it. I also enjoy the app and being able to control and monitor the system through my phone.
Despite them visiting twice after dark on a weekday, I ended up in a contract in our new home. They stayed for over an hour and were really helpful while seeling you a contract for 3 or more years. After that, customer service is non-existent and as an FYI to anyone seeing this, it's in your contract that they can raise the prices after the first year and you only get 30 days from the change to dispute it. So if you happen not to notice like I didn't, you're stuck with it. Overall I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. Way greedier and shady than they let on.
Technician quickly assessed the needs of my home, showed us the equipment and explained its use, and helped us choose what we wanted and needed. He was very meticulous and thorough in installation and testing of the system, handled the paperwork with ease, and explained use of the system well. He also left his phone number and encouraged us to call him if we had any problems.
The security equipment installer was very knowledgeable and understood my security needs. He was very polite and easy to work with in helping me understand how to use the system. He even offered his services if I had follow up questions or problems with my new security system.,
