Academy of Riding - Starlight Stables

I have been at Starlight Stables for over 3 years now, and I have loved every minute of it. Terry truly cares about the horse and rider and ensures their safety is first. Terry has provided me tremendous amount of knowledge regarding different styles of riding and horse care. Starlight Stables is a very warm place that feels like home to me. Terry, along with many students and staff have become like family to me. The horses are very docile and sweet to all the riders. All the horses have extraordinary personalities that will leave you wanting to take them home. In the past I have been several stables that left me timid and beaten down. Starlight Stables rebuilt my confidence and reminded me why I started riding in the first place, for fun! Starlight Stables is not about the money like most stables, but about horse and rider. Her lessons are suited for any level of rider and style. Terry provides just the right amount of encouragement and corrections that really sets the rider up for success. I have also attended Terrys camp. Starlight Stables camp was jam packed of games, fun, and laughter. I also learned a tremendous amount over summer camp. This includes jumping, lunging, training, care, and so much more. I will forever remember the wonderful memories I have made a Starlight Stables and cherish them.

Our daughter has been riding at Starlight Stables for over a year and she and we absolutely love it! She began riding English at another stable, but switched to Western with Terry. Starlight Stables has a variety of horses and Terry shares the history and breed characteristics of each horse with the rider. Students get to experience riding on many of them, which is great since it gives the student a sense of each horse's personality and movement. The arena, trails and barn are well kept and the setting is beautiful to sit in the shade watching the horses and riders during the lessons. Terry is very experienced, makes safety a priority, and hands-on during camp and lessons. We feel completely confident that our daughter is in great hands when she is at Starlight Stables!

Starlight Stables is a wonderful place to go if you are looking for lessons or a place to work. I work at Starlight Stables with Terry and I have loved every minute of it. The horses are very well trained and you can tell that Terry really cares about the horses as well as her students, safety is always number one at the stables for students as well as horses. Terry, along with having extensive knowledge of the equine breed is a wonderful teacher, she is very patient,kind, funny and is always welcoming new people with a warm smile.

Terry is a very warm, engaging and top-rate person. Her love and dedication to the horses and the craft of teaching is obvious in all that she does. We have ridden at other facilities and found the friendliness and knowledge of the horses and craft to be superior at Starlight with Terry. She even took time to provide tasks and fun interactive things to break my teenage autistic son out of his shell while my daughter has her lesson. Her rates and hours are reasonable and flexible. Nutshell: The horses are well trained, Terry is super nice and knowledgeable, and the rates are affordable. 5 stars!

I've taken riding lessons with Terry at Starlight Stables for about 5 years now, and I couldn't be happier. Her extensive knowledge of both English and western riding styles, gentle instruction, positive reinforcement, and consistently friendly manner make her a one-of-a-kind instructor. She gets to know her riders well and uncovers each person's unique learning style, tailoring her instruction to the individual. Terry's horses are a part of her family. Through careful training and sincere love, Terry continues to cultivate a herd of well-trained, versatile, and trustworthy school horses. Shw has a great range of horses to accommodate riders of many sizes and skill levels. Tack is also provided, which takes a financial weight off the shoulders of riders. Her staff is friendly, hardworking, and genuinely care about the riders' success. Wherever you want to go as an equestrian, Terry will be instrumental in helping you get there!

Starlight Stables is the BEST place in the area to take riding lessons, whether you are a beginner or an experienced rider! Before starting lessons with Terry, I did my research on all the local barns. I found that Terry's program allows for not only development of both Western and English riding skills rare for the area but also horse-care skills and knowledge stable care, grooming/tacking up, breeds, colors, etc.. The herd of School Master Horses at Starlight Stables is capable of teaching students of all levels and abilities in a SAFE manner. The outdoor arena minimizes dust and encourages easy transitions to the mini trail rides around the property which break up the lessons. Riding outside of the arena strengthens students' confidence to steer around solid objects, plan a clear path for themselves and their horse, and to adjust to riding on hills. If you want to have a solid foundation of riding skills, Starlight Stables is the place!

Throughout my year working at Starlight Stables for Terry Bowman, I have gained an immense amount of knowledge. I have several things I would like to say in regards to the Starlight Stables business. The care given to the horses and the safety of the care givers and students are priority in a day at the barn. I felt safe and secure when I would hop in the saddle. I have also not ever seen horses so content and happy, always ready for a fun ride or interaction with their riders. All of the horses come when they are called by name and do so because they know they are treated with respect and love. They are handled with gentle hands that are firm only when necessary. I enjoyed my time at the stable because I learned while helping the students learn as well. I wanted to gain the most possible knowledge of horses while employed for Terry Bowman for my future endeavors in the equine world, and I feel that I have truly met my goal. I can't recall a horse related question that Terry could not answer. She taught me not only how to be a better rider, but also how to become more in sync with horse by understanding their language. If you wish to learn true and respected horsemanship, give Starlight Stables a visit where the animals are appreciated as intelligent, intuitive, and more than capable of communicating with their owner. Terry Bowman has provided me with a great experience working with horses and their riders. I have made indelible memories and will carry the knowledge I have acquired with me forever.

My Daughter has been riding at Starlight Stables for 6 months. We have been thrilled with the experience. My daughter can be easy going to a fault. Through her experience at Starlight Stables she has learned to be more assertive both in and out of the saddle. she has had great one on one training as well as group. The setting is that of a family ranch and the surroundings are beautiful. All of the horses have wonderful unique personalities and I have learned each and everyone's story, from Terry. I have never seen her treat her horses with anything but respect and admiration. I look forward to many more years of watching my daughter blossom as a rider and as a woman at Starlight Stables.

Taking lessons from Terry at Academy of Riding Starlight Stables has been the most educational and enjoyable facility I’ve ever experienced. She is a true professional and genuinely loves and cares about her horses. I have learned so much! Highly recommend.

I started riding here last year and I absolutely love it! In 12 years of riding I’ve never had a kinder or more helpful riding instructor. All the horses are sweethearts and have challenged me to be a better rider, and the care of comfort of her horses is Terry’s top concern! It’s incredibly difficult to find an instructor who is both good to their horses as well as beneficial for and excellent at educating their students. This place has been all of that! I highly recommend it!
