These guys' fishing shirts, especially the ones made with "heather" fabric, are just plain magical, especially in the heat. They are the only shirts I have found that are truly, fully wash-and-wear. Not a single wrinkle if you pluck them from the dryer within 15 minutes of the cycle ending. Reasonably priced too.
Second time in two weeks I’m here doing some shopping and the pricing is off again. This time takes the cake. I told the cashier that the pricing was wrong for an item that I saw on the shelf that she rings up. She asks for a price check on the radio from a gentleman that I saw on the next row over stocking the shelves in that area. Cashier tells me I’m wrong after I knew where I pulled the item from. So the supposed, “manager” or lady standing around next to cashier, goes back there comes back and says no the price is what it rang up for. After, I pay the wrong price that it was not. I go to the back where I pulled the item from and sure enough it was moved from where it originally was yet still on a cheaper price tag than what I had paid. As I’m going back to the front the same “manager”, lady that went back there to supposedly check the price is walking towards me and radios the front and says refund him his money knowing I caught her in a lie. These boxes weren’t next to each other when I originally went back there the blue box was on a price tag of 8.99 I had to pay 19.99.
I was there to find some hiking boots. They didn't have my size in any of the boots or hiking shoes that they had. It was a little bit of a mess and hard to find the shoe you were looking for in the first place. There are things I like about Academy but they are terrible when it comes to shoes in my size, which is an eight or eight and a half. They have all kinds of size 10s, but hardly any in eight or eight and a half
Nice and has all the outdoor things you would need. Bullet supply was fairly weak and limited on options for guns and other handhelds. Also, cashier only deactivated the security tags on half of the products so I kept setting off the door alarms unnecessarily. A bit embarrassing.
Store is great but every single time I check out there is only one cashier available. I just don't understand why. Employees just standing around and people in line all the time waiting and the one line that's open also does returns. I have actually put my stuff down and walked out after waiting over ten minutes.
I went to buy an air mattress and sundry items. They had an entire aisle of them of different brands and sizes good,right?, but none of them, NONE, had price tags. Not one. So i loaded a few that i thought looked good and went to the nearest employees at the gun counter and asked if they would mind scanning them. The guy behind the counter was clearly annoyed that i asked and very rude. You would think that i asked him to rub my feet with the way he responded. It makes it hard to make a decision with so many choices when you also have to guess at the prices. As i continued to shop, i saw that barely half of the items in the store had price tags with the big exception being clothes and those on clearance. I ended up taking 2 different ones to the register and the lady there was friendlier and helped me, but no one wants to wait in line just to ask about a price. Even the impulse items near the line for the register were unlabeled. The plus side was that i got a decent price on the mattress and another jacket that was on sale and i am pleased with both items. Also, the checkout lady was pleasant and efficient.
Very upset, my husband and I went in got some water shoes because the sign said 40% off. We didn't read it all the way so those shoes weren't discounted which is fine the problem was the shoes price tag on the shoe said $49.99 but they rang up $59.99. Then the girl at the register proceeded to say oh $60 is the reduced price. I would definitely pay attention to prices and how they ring up.
Frank at the firearms counter is amazing. I've done a few transactions with Frank and also just general customer interactions and he is such a humble guy. Always has jokes up his sleeve and makes my days brighter. I'll be back in a couple of weeks!
I would never go back to this store. Bought a $300 pair of sun glasses. The display said discount but we were told academy does no do discounts on display items with some damage.
I was extremely disappointed in my visit and we left and went to another Academy in a different location. The store was a disaster, nothing was plainly marked, including the departments themselves. I will never come back to this store again. My suggestion is the Academy in New Caney. This store sucks. Complete waste of time.
