This is a great hardware store. They have anything and everything I could think of when it comes to hardware. Stellar Customer Service, stocked and greatly organized.

Ace Hardware, in general, has friendly employees and a nice selection of items. This location in particular has super nice people working here who are always willing to answer questions. It’s like walking into a friend’s house. Except you have to pay for the things you walk out with.

They're all disgusting Talking about customers and assuming they're going to steal. They're standing over me, stereotyping me, watching me like a hawk, because I guess I look like a thieving vagrant... They're all waiting for me to steal, talking about me where I can hear them... And then, I pull out a wallet full of $20s to buy my set of two pliers, with these disgusting managers breathing down the back of my neck. I mean, I understand they're bored... Disgusting manager and employees. I wish I could give 0/5 stars, instead of only 1/5. Their prices are ridiculous, too. Oh, and, Ive seen a lot more disgusting behaviour from their manager and employees, which I won't be submitting in this review. I recommend the Asian hardware store down on Shattuck near Ashby. Much nicer human beings there. I only give negative reviews in extreme, recurring cases

Everything is so overpriced and the cashiers are very rude and unprofessional. They think they are doing us a favor when you buy. The worst place bad service with the cashiers!

Went to get a paint match, not only did the paint match up 100% perfectly, but they even tested it against the paint chip to prove it would work

This legacy business in Berkeley, despite having moved to a new location retains its old world charm and customer service not found in most hardware stores. Super helpful staff, and a supply of goods that are seemingly perfect for the surrounding areas. Highly recommended for construction, home repair, and even gardening.

Really don't understand the people in this establishment. Rude, went to by padlock for bicycle and even though on 2 customers in store I was asked to remove bicycle. Lack of customer service, a simple 5 to 10 minute transaction would have had me on my way and the cashiers who where busy chit chatting, due to lack of business I am quite sure, could have gotten back to wasting the owners time. The store could do with a cleaning. Maybe the staff could do some work. I will never be back.

The worst shopping experience in America. I bought 2 heat lamp bulbs in one package for my new heat lamp. One of the bulb isn’t working. So I brought it back to the store and ask if I can get a replacement. Initially the people were helpful and trying to find another one in the store to replace the broken bulb. Then the manager came and accuse me of bringing an old bulb to try to get a new one. They said they’ll not take it back at all even I just bought them 2 days ago. I told him I never used it but only put it on to test it. He said my story was confusing him he just joined the conservation half way and didn’t hear clearly how I picked up the product. Then he called me a liar. He asked me to proof if the bulbs I bought from them are the one I’m trying to return. He basically said if I can’t proof that was the product they sold me, he’s not going to take it back. The bulbs are only $15.99. If I were the owner of the store to try to gain a customer satisfaction, I’ll either explain nicely or simply replace them. But calling a customer liar for selling a broken light bulb and refuse to take them back!? This is epic! This is only 2 days after I purchased the bulbs. I swear I will never set foot in this store nor tell anyone I know to purchase from them. I’ve been living in Berkeley for long time and been in this store for many times. The manager is absurd and rude! Don’t buy from them!

The man that works in the hobbies department, Tracie is the most knowledgeable model train expert we ave ever met. So helpful.

I really like this place. My 4 star is only because when I go in , I get the "Can I help. You?" which mean " I think your intending on shoplifting, so I'm gonna follow you around and make sure your uncomfortable. " Which actually speaks volumes for how cool this place is considering it STILL got 4 stars. Well stocked.Get in, find whatcha need, pay , go. And they are knowledgeable about most things With the exception of bike parts... Don't ask for bike tubes, pull be shown surgical tubing to sink hoses. Be good,or be good at "it'".
