Description

In 1936, Mr. Paul Lee closed down his Block Ice and Delivery business on Vincennes St. across from New Albany High School. He opened a hardware business in a building (garage) behind Stemle's grocery (Little Tiger) at the corner of Vincennes and Charlestown Rd. Around 1946, Mr. Lee built a one story concrete block building at 1905 Charlestown Rd. and called it Eureka Hardware. A few years later he added a second story to the building and changed the name to Eureka Ace Hardware. In January 1985, Paul Staashelm purchased the business from Marie Lee (Paul Lee's widow). The two story building with steps to the second floor was not accessible to the disabled and was replaced with a 15,000 foot store that ended up as the only Hardware store in town. As part of a cooperative, every Ace Hardware store is independently owned. We are all committed to being "the Helpful Place" by offering our customers knowledgeable advice, helpful service and quality products.

Ace is the place for us. We are fortunate to live just blocks away, and they have a little bit of everything there! We love their customer service. Everyone there is knowledgeable and helpful. It reminds me of an “old school“ hardware store… A welcome change from the big Box stores today.
Amazing customer service. Friendly, helpful staff. Great inventory. Competitive pricing. My go to store for that odd-ball part needed to fix something. They have it all.
So I fairly recently gave this place five stars but then I had to change my review after today. I work for a company where we have a business account through ACE Hardware. I mostly will take some keys up there to get them cut. Pretty much all our keys for the same facility use the exact same blank and that's what I've consistently been taking up there to have my keys cut. Then all of a sudden today they can't seem to cut a key correctly. I've cut numerous keys and instead of them being honest and just being like we butcher your key. They tried to blame it on the key blank yet I've probably got 50 keys cut with the exact same key blank. I used to feel like this is one of the last few places that offered really good customer service but now I'm starting to feel a little different.
I have done business here quite a few times even joined their club but I went in to buy paint and inquired about a contractors rate and the owner acted like I was robbing the place. Well I just went to a more accommodating place of business and purchased the product. As much as I like to do business with local and small business I probably won't hurry to do business here again.
Went to this store to get a key cut for my car, I already had the key, they cut my new key and it wouldn't even go in the ignition they messed my key up cussed me out and told me they ain't fixing it and to take it somewhere else and to get out of the store, very unprofessional and untrained workers I will be contacting corporate and making a complaint.
My husband and I go to Ace Hardware quite often. They have a large variety of items here and they have the most helpful sales associates. We had a key made on this visit. This is the.only place we have gone to that makes the key perfect the first time.they even make chipped keys now.for like $100.00.
I love this hardware store they are much more cheaper than the ones self-owned and their products work and not expired.
Years ago, I worked at a parts counter. Many times, I would send my customers there for hard to find screws and fasteners. 30 years later, I still go there when i need something hardware wise.
clean with lots of Milwaukee to spend those hard earned dollars we receive, to then earning hardly enough dollars because they had lots of Milwaukee
I have been going to Ace Hardware since 1984. They are the best and most friendly local hardware store.
