Doran Funeral Homes, Inc. and Acton Funeral Home is a family owned and operated business. The Martin and Doran Funeral Home on Lincoln Street, Maynard, was established in 1925 by native Maynardian, Herbert W. Martin. After his honorable service in the US Army Quartermaster Corps Graves Registration Division, Herbert's son-in-law John A. Doran was licensed and became a partner in the business. Through the years, John's wife, Connie (Martin) Doran was instrumental in running the behind the scenes portions of the business, including book and record keeping, newspaper submissions, and regulatory compliance updates. In 1961, John built the Acton Funeral Home on Massachusetts Avenue, Acton, providing services to the Acton- Boxborough community. In 1984, John's daughter Kathleen Doran began her two year apprenticeship and completed the Massachusetts funeral director's licensing requirements in 1986. She is dedicated to the legacy of her grandfather and her parents, who died in 1976, 2006 and 2011 respectively, providing caring services and guidance to area families. We are dedicated to providing information and services in a professional, caring and personalized manner, and strive to make our families and visitors feel comfortable while paying respects to their loved ones.
