Your career in music begins with an education that hits all the right notes. Whether you’re interested in becoming a musician or in music education, our music program will provide you with the knowledge and technical skills to succeed on stage, in the studio or in the classroom.
Our music program allows for small class sizes, and provides a foundation in music theory, aural skills, musicianship and music history. In addition to the knowledge you’ll gain in the classroom, you’ll also gain valuable experience through instrumental or vocal lessons and performance opportunities, including large and small ensembles—band, chorus, orchestra, chamber, guitar, jazz, opera and world music among others.
The mission of the Department of Music at Adelphi University is:
To promote excellence and enhance creativity through rigorous study, thoughtful application, and broad experiences in music;
To prepare artist-educators, composers, and performers to meet the highest standards of aesthetic expression;
And to offer opportunities for all members of the Adelphi University community to engage with music, thereby enriching the quality of life on campus, and promoting cultural leadership in our region and beyond.
