The ER closes at 8:00 pm . Its wonderful that Lake Placid is spending millions on new sport's facilities but shouldn't they be worrying about the lack of medical care ? We had a heart issue & had to call an ambulance to drive us through the dark mountains to another hospital. What emergency room closes its doors at 8:00 pm ? Just making you aware as I wish we knew prior to visiting.
I went in to the emergency room here because I could barely walk after having severe back pain for a couple weeks. I was treated very rudely by both the ER doctor and nurses. Long story short I was given Tylenol and sent on my way. The next day I had to call 911 because I couldn’t get out of bed. At that point I was given proper treatment including physical rehabilitation but of course I had to pay for both visits.
Avoid at all costs. I went into Adirondack Medical Center urgent care room with a dislocated pinkie finger on a Saturday evening this summer. At the time, I felt it was a smart decision to seek medical care instead of attempting the reduction myself. The staff was inattentive and lackadaisical. Though I was literally the only patient in the entire building, I was constantly waiting for care from staff. Even with all of this waiting I was out of there in less than an hour, post reduction. I then received a bill for nearly $4,000! I can not stress the absurdity of this amount considering the mildness of the injury and the short amount of time spent in the urgent care room. The fee for entering the door alone was over $1,700. The call I made to question the charges was received with little regard. The patient advocate listened to my concern but advised that no one at ADK Medical Center would care that the charges were outrageous. I was given a small discount to pay my bill on time. I will never walk into that place ever again. They should be ashamed of themselves for offering such subpar service and for taking advantage of people with unethical fees that don't match the care received. Shame on you, Adirondack Medical Center.
I was admitted october 12th spending 3days there. Emergency room doctor was far from pleasurable as he was diagnosing me with a illness that can be terminal prior to running minimal test. I was devastated and hope to never see him again. With that said all Adirondack health staff on the 3rd floor were extremly helpful patient kind and took whatever time was needed to care for me leaving me feeling like a priority. Good news is I don't have a terminal illness instead turned out to be intercavity pneumonia with a lung abcess amd on the mend. Thank you again Adirondack Health for the great care I received while with you.
We were visiting from out of town. My daughter had a very bad ear ache and we were worried about her flying back home. We were greeted with a warm welcome and told us they would be happy to see us immediately. The doctor came in quickly and was helpful. Service was excellent, staff and doctor was fantastic.
I went in on December 30 with a fever, general exhaustion, a rash, and muscle aches and pains. After than ran a few tests including COVID I was told absolutely nothing was wrong. I was like there has to be, I don’t feel good. Every time I asked a question, I was brushed off. Best part, I was told I “over indulged” In the holiday. I started laughing, and stated the only thing I over indulged in was work I work in hospitality I still don’t feel good, and a few days later I go to CVPH, and find out I have pneumonia, which was cause by something called Q fever! This is quite rare, and affects only about 1,000 people a year in the US! I despise ADK Medical Center, I was made to feel like I was bothering the staff, and instead of helping, they kicked me out. The Lake Placid and Saranac Lake Hospitals are complete jokes. I will be going to CVPH aim Plattsburgh from now on. Yes, it’s a ways away, but at least people listened to me at CVPH!
If you are reading this chances are you are looking for urgent care in Lake Placid. This facility is part of Adirondack Health and also goes by the name Lake Placid Medical Center. Small emergency clinic providing timely urgent care in a building that also houses other clinical services. I checked in on a holiday weekend for a minor illness and was seen very promptly and treated with courtesy. I have a nit to pick with patient safety protocols: the practitioners introduce themselves by first name only and you don’t know if you are speaking with the nursing, medical or advanced care provider staff. Also no one ever checked my name band to make sure I was the correct patient. Yes, it’s a small place and probably low volume but these procedures are required by regulations and exist for patient safety. Oh, and there’s a sign reminding them to do this in the exam room!
My son broke his wrist mountain biking and they were great. The nurse and PA took great care of him. All of the staff were super friendly. We were in and out there in no time. Very happy with the care that was provided.
Needed to see a doctor for foot injury, called Lake Placid Health Center. I live in Lake Placid. Got through in a timely manner and made an appointment later the same day. Excited to get an appointment so quickly, especially on a Friday. Took an Uber to the Center, went through the Covid screener. The screener sent me to the wrong office. I was sent to another office, where they found my records, took a couple of signatures, sent me to another office. I was the only one there and the process was annoyingly long. I get to where my doctor is, tell the receptionist my name. She can't find my appointment. She takes my name, goes into her system, finds that my appointment is in Tupper Lake, 45 minutes away. I live in Lake Placid, call the Lake Placid Health Center, yet get scheduled an appointment in Tupper Lake without an warning!! The receptionist wasn't the least bit empathetic and offered to make an appointment in future. I asked to speak to the office manager, but she wasnt around, of course. I could go on a bit. Appointment setting is basic. Place reeks of incompetence.
Had to go to the emergency room with a problem. Did not wait long. The service from the tect, nurse and doctor were fast and very professional. Test got done quickly. Doctor sat down and talked about my options. Thanks for such a great place. Will go back if needed.
