I’ve been working toward a certain goal for over 10 years…even during my life’s lowest points (and believe me…they were LOW). That goal is to save my community…or more specifically, it’s future. Unfortunately, the powers that be in this area, have seemingly “forgotten” the fact that our future lies in the hands of the youth. So THAT is my focus. Actually, no…it’s my CALLING.
I’ve lived in this area (Oregon's south coast) my whole life, and have suffered the consequences that result from a city that cares VERY LITTLE about its youth. They’re constantly lowering school budgets and dropping important programs, such as music and the arts. The drop-out rate is absurdly high…and local students test scores are among the lowest in the state…yet NOTHING is being done to change it.
As there’s a miniscule amount of entertainment for the youth here…most make their own fun, which usually involves mass amounts of drugs (heroin, meth, ecstasy, & opiates being the biggest trends here currently), alcohol, and sex…leading to a crazy number of teen pregnancies (and abortions). The intoxicants lead to all sorts of trouble…but the drunk-driving deaths are the worst…and happen entirely too often. Still…the city does nothing. They’re hung-up on the here and now, and making money…which is fine…but they just ignore the bleak future we’re headed toward.
I began concocting an idea to help the local youth over 10 years ago…and now the bulk of the planning is done. I have a solid business plan, for a place that the community supports very much (especially our city Mayor). It’s more than simply a “business”, though. It’ll help change the lives of the local youth drastically, and for the better. It TRULY is a great idea that several local small-business owners have told me, “can’t fail”.
As I said before though…I’ve had some very low points in my life. They’ve led me to a terrible credit score…never a long-term job…many burned bridges…and even some minor criminal infractions. I can’t get a start-up loan from a bank…nor can I borrow it elsewhere. Not HERE, anyway. So the purpose of this page, is to spread the word about what I’m doing, far and wide…and eventually, someone will be caring enough to want to help financially…or even become my business partner.
Please understand that I’m not a typical entrepreneur. I’m not seeking a fortune or ANYTHING for myself. I’m doing it for my city and its future…plain and simple.
