On July 1st, 2010, Roane State Community College was awarded a $2.86 million dollar US Department of Labor grant designated to train and certify unemployed and underemployed workers as technicians in the Composite/Carbon Fiber, Solar/Energy Efficiency, and general industries. The Advanced Materials Training and Education Center (AMTEC) program is a four month program housed in the Halcyon Commercialization Center at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). AMTEC will provide a fast-track training program to prepare individuals for entry-level positions in manufacturing processes and other related industries.
