Moe is a fantastic therapist. He has helped me tremendously through very difficult times. He’s been there anytime I need him. I think this is a great facility because of Dr. Scott Hollington and Moe. They are both very empathetic but also straight forward. They do not sugar coat or co-sign any negative behavior. They both help me to work on new coping mechanisms and Dr. Hollington is easy to get in touch with for emergencies. I owe the improvement in the overall quality of life to them both. Can’t think of a negative thing to say. Highly recommended.
Doctor and therapists are very good, but office procedures are among the most incompetent I have ever experienced. They don’t return calls, don’t apparently know what to charge and then simply turn their excess bills over to a collection agency without ever sending an invoice or calling the patient. 7 calls unreturned over a period of 3 months trying to schedule a needed appointment. I pay whatever is asked before seeing the doctors, yet twice have had to deal with a random sum of money being billed by a debt collector with no warning. What a shame, because the doctors are good. Find another doctor if you actually need care you can count on.
After reading the other reviews there seems to be a trend here.... my gf and I were both patients at APNS, for about 2-3 years. When my gf lost her insurance, they wouldn't make any exceptions, ie. No payment plan, no 80% down. If you didn't have the money you weren't being seen. Whatever that's there right. Covid hits, our once a month in person appointment turns into phone appts. After maybe 3-6 months of this, we started having problems. My gf and I have our appts at the same time. The appointment would end and I'd be like so when's our next appt. Her answer was I thought you made it. This happened constantly. The front desk blamed it on Dr. Hollington. When asked he was like I don't do the scheduling. Finally the office stopped answering. Had to find a different practice to get our meds. We went without our meds because of APNS, which is by the way a form of medical malpractice. Its called patient abandonment. We were like whatever, we found Hollington through a different practice. 3 or 4 months go by and I get a call asking to collect payment for today's appt at apns with hollington. I told them I had never made this appt they seemed to understand and dropped it. Another couple months goes by I found a voice-mail from them saying I owed $30something for 2 prior appts. After pretty much harassing them calling them constantly they sent me invoices that didn't even make sense. So with my insurance I have a medical concierge. Think of her as my representative. We three-way called them and got to the bottom of the charges, which the main one was from a dr at there practice that I had never met before. I didn't even know who he was. Obviously they finally caved and said it was a mistake. This whole getting to the bottom of my invoice took weeks and constantly calling them. I've asked to audit all my invoices and I still haven't received them. Overall Dr is amazing, the staff are horrendous. They blame the outside billing company instead of taking responsibility themselves. Then they don't answer there phone for months. Not a reputable place.
Unfortunately, working in the field of Psychology and dealing with Substance Abuse it’s going to be difficult to appease every client. I know because I’ve also worked in this field. I have had nothing but positive interactions with both of the employees at the front desk. When I got out of the hospital and needed to see a psychiatrist I was in within the next hour from my discharge. Dr. Hollington is brilliant and very knowledgeable and I always learn something new after each visit. I can tell he truly cares about my well being. He doesn’t sugar coat any information and I appreciate what he’s done for me so far. This office has been beneficial to my mental health. Insurance companies are often the culprit behind the frustrating financial situations and it seems the office is caught in between.
I received great treatment here by Dr. Hollington and the therapist Leila. That alone should warrant a 5 star review, unfortunately the business practices are some of the worst I've ever seen. I was a patient here for over a year. Firstly, they were charging me the wrong copay for the first 4 or 5 months. When they realized they never sent me a bill or told me of a balance, they sent it directly to collections. I took care of that and hoped it was a one time thing. But this seems to be their standard operating procedure. If you no-show or if there is a discrepancy in payment they won't inform you, they send it to collections within a week. Then, after a year of being seen, I was put on a controlled substance and was told I needed therapy. While I initially opted for therapy when I first started going here, I soon changed my mind as I didnt see much benefit. Still continued to see Dr. Hollington as he is one of the best doctors I've ever seen. Unfortunately I missed a therapy session, and then tried to reschedule another one but could never get through on the phone. Which resulted in 2 no shows. Again, no communication from the office staff at all, they just dropped me as a patient. I was really disheartened to hear it, because I truly loved seeing the Dr. But the practice itself needs to reevaluate how it handles its business. And before they say I didn't go here, my last name was Anderson that I used. Edit: If all you took away from this long post was the no show fee, I see why your business has so many 1 star reviews. I gave my honest review to assist you and other customers in making an informed choice. But yes, let's continue to think I'm complaining about a no show fee and not bad business practices like immediately sending a balance to collections before even telling me.
Love the doctor, but the staff is horrible. We gave them all the paperwork they asked for up front, but every call I get the same run-around for HIPPA and have to re-explain that they HAVE the paperwork for my son. Then they screw up appointment times by calling at the wrong time and today when I called to cancel an appointment they said, "Oh we called to collect his co-pay and no one answered so we automatically cancelled his appointment". The message they left was that they were calling to switch his appointments out to four weeks. When I brought this to their attnetion; it was, "Well I wouldn't know anything about that". Last two times they called just prior to the appointment for the co-pay. This is a mentally ill person who needs his meds and this is how they run the office/appointments?
I visited this location recently and everything seemed fine to me. The fees and requirements, such as seeing a counselor there twice per month, are on the walls near reception. Scheduling an additional appointment was quick and painless. Just like anywhere else they do try to schedule you on a date and time of your preference. If a client cancels they may call you to be seen even sooner if you’ve expressed interest in that. There are some really negative reviews on here. Maybe they are true, maybe not, but my experience was fine.
Nurse practitioner Hope King takes a lot of time and consideration with her patients. Scott, my therapist, has a holistic - mind, body, and spirit approach. Neither one asks me to tell them what I need from them like I have had from other providers, I one time had a psychiatrist ask me what meds I wanted - nothing like that here. Even Scott has new and inventive approaches to heal my whole self each session. Both are only there one day a week because that see patients in facilities, or maybe home bound, but I can't recommend them more.
This office has HORRIFIC billing practices. My wife had a total of four appointments here where we paid the co-pay and that was it. We NEVER received any billing statements and were never told of any balance. Out of no where, we get a collection notice saying a balance of over $400 was written off to a collection agency. When I called the agency they were not surprised that this office did this. They went FOUR months without sending me a bill and then had the audacity to send me to collections without ANY notice or itemized list. PATIENT BEWARE
The five-star reviews must be fake reviews. There's no way this place deserves five stars. They're greedy. LOOK AT YOUR REVIEWS! They're mostly one star reviews. Do you care to fix anything? The main issue that I had was that I was being forced to have therapy sessions this happened out of nowhere when all I needed were psychiatric services for medication. I had psychiatric services no therapy sessions for ~5 years before APNS decided to force therapy sessions on me. I was an easy patient only on one medication and coming in for 5 minute appointments in order to pick up my prescriptions medication management. I did not have insurance, so paying for therapy was not possible or needed in my opinion. In this instance, I did feel like they were being greedy. I ended up leaving this facility because I was told I needed to have therapy sessions in order to stay at APNS and moving to another area. I hope that this behavior has stopped and no services are forced on patients in the future especially patients with an inability to pay. Company policy? Aren't most psychiatric drugs controlled? What a greedy company policy. EVERYONE please just go to a psychiatrist's office some psychiatrists offer therapy sessions if needed, but won't require it just because you're on controlled medication, not a place like this. At a psychiatrist's office, they won't force you to get therapy sessions that cost just as much as sessions with the psychiatrist. I see a psychiatrist now and I get 3 paper prescriptions per visit I take controlled medication. This is permitted by the law, so don't ever let any prescriber tell you that they can't give you more than one month's worth of prescriptions at a time for controlled medication. If you're stable on the medication, there should be no problem. The only problem would be the prescriber's greediness to make more money on unnecessary visits.
