Advancing Sustainability Symposium is an annual event that gathers students, professionals and residents of various disciplinary backgrounds to critique the directionality and development of the built environment at its core: the human experience in situ, the specific cultural response to geography, technology, and resources, mediated by political and economic routines.
AS Symposium is a student organization that engage professionals of various disciplines, and welcoming even the youngest generation, with a passion to explore new transdisciplinary ways of design synthesis to identify missed opportunities in existing infrastructure and solve for current and projected problems in the urbanscape. Design focuses on optimizing the regional quality of infrastructural performance and reducing or eliminating negative impacts on regional ecosystems and biosystems. In tandem with creative engineering for innovative design solutions, the group explores the influence of current built environment aesthetics on regional quality of life.
