I was searching reviews for Skilled Nursing Facilities and I noticed how difficult it was to find any reviews that were not done as an emotionally revengeful response or from people who just give a 5 star reviews with no history of reviewing anything else. What I experienced at the hospital was through the eyes of a family member. The staffing at the ICU was generally empathetic, responsive, helpful and very efficient at providing aid to my mother. They always provided information that I requested or put me in touch with the doctors that had the answers. I was nervous about her being here, but it all turned out for the best. The next phase of seeking a Skilled Nursing Facility seems hard, but based on the review Advocate South Suburban has received and the dozens of facilities i have researched via google, there is no way of knowing anything or getting any "honest" insights into any hospital or medical facility until i actually visit the place in person. Good luck to all the other harried folks trying to divine what the hell to do to help a loved one..
I gotten sick on 9/21/2023 was taken to South Suburban Hospital. Always thought this were a terrible hospital according to the public rating. When I arrived in the paramedic taken to emergency room waited for 5hrs it was so many people’s. I became frustrated and waited to leave because the pain I was having was so severe Finally taken in to see a nurse and the doctor than I was admitted to stay for several days. Arrived on the second floor room 250 bed one. I tell you it was the best caring treatment that I ever received being in the hospital. Entire staff excellent all the specialists doctors and the nurses . They cared about my health and they showed it. I would rate this higher than a 5. 10+ Keep up the good work.
Had a terrible experience with the nurses and doctors. I was completely rushed out without being looked at properly. Didn’t get vitals taken until 45mins of being There my Bp was evaluated and it was not looked at And the discharge nurse was so rude she even took a phone call with our trying to explain. I would not send anyone here.
Went in for a colonoscopy with Dr. Lau, was my first and also first time at this hospital. From Irene at the check-in desk to Nurse Ashley and Cindy in the GI Surgery area to Kristy in the MRI department, they all made me feel very comfortable and less nervous about the procedure. Nurse Ashley went above and beyond for me. The anesthesiologist was really comforting as well, she did her job amazingly as i did not feel anything and I alive and able to write this! Thanks again to all who took care of me while I was there.
I visited on a Saturday for bloodwork then on a Monday for a surgery in the Center for advanced care. I have nothing but compliments. The facility was clean and well designed. The staff was nothing but amazing, everyone I encountered from entry to exit. I avoided this facility for years thinking the service was sub-par but and however I was wrong. Thank you all for taking care of me!
My family lives within walking distance of this hospital and we have used it for close to 30 years. At one point, it was a pleasant and fine facility but each year for the past 5 years, we have noticed a drastic decline due to the deplorable work ethics. My husband walked out of ER today before being admitted because of not only ineptness but unkempt appearance of staff. Who is responsible for hiring and evaluating these people and don't the doctors notice and have something to say? The image is similar to the County Hospital on so many levels. I have been at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove twice and they can give workshops on how to achieve excellence to this hospital. I am not done here. I will follow up with more complaints to administrators.
Cannot say enough good things about the ER and ICU staff. Saved my life! Compassionate, professional, effective and loving care from some of the amazing caregivers I have ever met. Thank you.
My sister had surgery at this hospital. Everyone was kind, and professional. Even when we walked in the hospital, we were greeted so kind. I will say after receiving such great service. There was one nurse who was very condescending. Alarm went off, I asked her what was that sound, and why it was going off. She never responded. I’m speaking to my sister, she interjects herself in the conversation. The last straw, was when she indicated would you like to get the car, because my sister was leaving. I was like yeah, then she stated you hesitated. I hesitated because I didn’t like her attitude, and I wanted to leave with my sister, so we could leave together. Her whole energy was negative. Which made me match her energy. Your job is to take care of patients, have a level of respect for family members, who are there to support, and be there for their love ones!
0 stars should definitely be an option. Staffing is ridiculously low and they see patients how they want to. It's not by the severity of the person and it's definitely not by first come first served. A horrible experience for my mother who spent 4 hours in the urgent care waiting room before being taken to the back just to wait another 2 hours just for a doctor to come in to see her. What makes it worse is staffing who so nonchalantly walks around having the dumbest conversations with each other, and the girl who sat right in front of my mother's room with an emergency T-shirt on scrolling through Facebook and directing traffic to the bathroom. Another girl with a blonde ball on top of her head sat with a warm blanket and snuggled up with her phone. The lack of compassion, the unprofessionalism and the damn nerve. Denise P. the so-called RN who took my mother's blood broke the needle and tube and blamed it on the tube which in turn made her have to stick my mother twice, one in each arm. We waited over an hour for lab results to come back only for another nurse to come in to have to take blood a third time because the sample that was sent down was no good all because Denise was careless. This place should be re-evaluated along with its team. It's giving cracker jack box vibes. Shut it down, we could use the space for Meijer's parking.
I was recently in an car accident and needed to be evaluated. I was in pain a few days after the accident and my attorney advised me to go to the hospital. I did and they did an amazing job of making sure I didn't wait too long ‍. They were very professional and treated me with some pain patches. It was the complete opposite of recent experience I had with another hospital in Harvey I wrote a detailed review. I've been coming to this hospital most of my life. I've never had a really bad experience with their staff. Please keep up the great work.
