The Africville Museum is the first phase of the Africville Project. The Africville Heritage Trust is currently planning for the development of an Interpretive Centre, which will provide expanded space for exhibits and programming.
HOW TO FIND US:
The Museum is located on the site of Africville, close to where the original Church stood.
From Downtown Halifax: Take Barrington Street North toward the A. Murray MacKay Bridge. Turn right onto Africville Road. The Museum will be on your right.
From Dartmouth: Take the A. Murray MacKay Bridge to Halifax and follow directions to Africville Road. At the stop sign, turn left and follow Bayne Street to the railway track before the Container Terminal. Cross the railway track, and turn right onto Africville Road. The Museum will be on your left.
From Bedford: Follow directions to Lady Hammond Road. After passing the turn-off to the A. Murray MacKay Bridge, turn left at MacIntosh Street. Turn left again at Bayne Street, and follow Bayne Street to the railway track before the Container Terminal. Cross the railway track, and turn right onto Africville Road. The Museum will be on your left.
