Excellence in Education!
Our third year in the community of Sahuarita / Green Valley, Arizona began August 1, 2013 with the announcement that our students earned an “A” label from Arizona’s growth model for academic student performance!! We were ranked in the top seven percent of AZ schools, and we are very proud of our students’ dedicated hard work. Those students who earned “Exceeds” on the AIMS /PARCC test boarded our school bus for a congratulatory trip to Skate Country in Tucson, and these students were acknowledged with a sincere “Way to Go! We’re Proud of You!” recognition cheer from all. Our school district was selected as one of the strategic test sites for the PARCC testing materials that will be field
tested this fall. Again, we are very proud of our students and their accomplishments. What a wonderful school year this is for our professional learning community. Our students are settled into their classrooms with a new approach to acquiring, not only the additional academic skills outlined by the Arizona educational standards taskforce, but also fully embracing the Common Core Standards designed for unilateral learning achievement among a majority of these United States. Ms. Bryant has continued with our learning community as the site administrator for the Air and Space Academy in Sahuarita / Green Valley, Az. She has each class represented on Teacher Web to encourage ongoing
parent communication with the school, students writing and reading informational text, and keeps all students actively individualizing their learning achievement through the use of expert systems and digital technology. Mr. Ferguson conducted a pitch perfect performance of “Coconut” from our
“Performance Steel” steel pan band during opening ceremonies. We thank all the parents, students,
and staff affiliated with the school and those within the Sahuarita/Green Valley community that have graciously volunteered hundreds of hours and multiple resources towards insuring that our campus is a place of extraordinary opportunity for our students. I am proud of our hard working students, dedicated parents, community volunteers, and enthusiastic teachers and staff. From day one, our students have:
*embraced our Academy’s rigorous
academic expectations
*taken on a longer school day
from 8:00 a.m. until 3:45 p.m.
*welcomed the challenges of our new
Honors Quest class and upper grade
electives
*and understood that music/theater is
not just a casual, part-time “special”,
but a valued curriculum requirement.
Our students love coming to school! They respect their teachers and each other and enjoy the inquiry based common core curriculum!
Truly Remarkable!
