It always looks the same …. A bleak desolate airport …. With very little business going through here I’m wondering how long this place can keep going …. and yet still make any money …. The thing was … the car park was chocka, so whereas everyone ??? Answers on a postcard to ….
I travelled last week for the first time using PIK. I can honestly say,l that the experience was amazing. The airport parking was literally next to the terminal and a 1 minute walk. The airport is small and everything is quick. Airport staff members information area staff, check in staff, security and assistance were friendly and good at their roles. The airport was clean and not busy. There was somewhere to eat and a WHSmith. Overall, J spent less than I usually would. Baggage was ready when we disembarked the aircraft. It was very scenic when landing and the runway is so long. This is not used enough. It has a lot of potential. Staff members are employed by the airport itself, this makes a difference as they seem to care how they come across. I would absolutely use this airport again. It is just a bit of a waste as could be used by more airlines.
Terrible experience at lunchtime today when contacted the Information team to raise a concern. The call handler was extremely rude, unhelpful, refused to give me his name or let me speak to his supervisor then hung up on me! Disgraceful way to treat people. Would have given zero rating if that was an option. Avoid this airport at all cost if possible.
Nothing available before going through security, not even enough seats then they let 2 flights go through together and the food hall couldn't cope. People probably had to leave without orders. First 2 flights of the day. I will be avoiding if I can.....
Fantastic Airport. Really easy to get to by train or M77. Pick up / drop off is only £3.50 for an hour. Long term is a bit steep at just under £90 for 9 days, but all things considered its one of the best Airports in Scotland.
Relatively small and quick operating airport. To get there you could use train, bus or drive by car. No ques, fast check in. Friendly people all around you. The only down side is - past passport control there is not a possibility to have a hot food, only cold sandwiches and refreshments.
I recently had the opportunity to travel through Glasgow Prestwick Airport, and while it offers some conveniences, there are significant issues that cannot be ignored. The airport's transport connections are generally good, but there is one recurring problem that poses a significant challenge for passengers with mobility issues. Let's start with the positives. Glasgow Prestwick Airport benefits from excellent transport links, making it easily accessible for travelers. The presence of a railway station bridge connecting the check-in area to the railway station is a thoughtful addition that allows passengers to seamlessly transition between train and air travel. This integration is convenient, especially for those arriving or departing by train. However, a recurring problem with the lifts between the check-in area and the railway station bridge presents a major inconvenience, particularly for passengers with mobility issues. It's disheartening to hear that these lifts frequently break down, leaving travelers in difficult situations. For example, if you arrive by train, you may need to alight at Irvine and continue your journey by local bus. Similarly, if you arrive by bus from Ayr, you'll need to reroute into Monkton and reverse from there. These alternative routes can be complicated and time-consuming. Unfortunately, this issue becomes even more problematic for wheelchair users traveling on the X77 bus route. In such cases, passengers must travel all the way into Glasgow Buchanan bus station before reversing back to the airport. The lack of a backup plan or alternative means of access is disappointing, as it forces wheelchair users to endure lengthy delays and complications in their journeys. Even for travelers who are not using a wheelchair, this recurring issue can cause significant disruptions. Whether you are transitioning between buses or simply passing through the airport, encountering a non-functional lift can result in a lengthy delay. In such situations, passengers are left with no choice but to wait for a bus to take them to Ayr bus station and then wait again for their intended connection. This additional hour to an hour and a half delay is unacceptable, especially considering that the airport lacks a backup plan to mitigate such situations. Overall, my experience at Glasgow Prestwick Airport was marred by the recurring breakdowns of the lifts connecting the check-in area and the railway station bridge. While the airport has commendable transport connections, the lack of a reliable lift system causes considerable inconvenience, particularly for passengers with mobility issues. Given these circumstances, I can only give the airport a rating of 2.5 out of 5. It is crucial for the airport authorities to address this ongoing problem and ensure a more seamless and accessible experience for all passengers.
It's a small airport so limited facilities. No cafes open at the time of my visit, I was meeting an arrival. Large WHSmith branch. Clean and functional. Clearly signposted in terms of the car parks.
Super quick check-in, security checks, immigration while returning. Good small and clean airport. Good connectivity by public transport and also long term parking on airport was hassle free
Im complaining about the the lack of public transport to Prestwick Airport. I have guests from italy who will fly from Prestwick on Sunday 6th August. The flight is at 9am. Its impossible to get to the airport from Glasgow to catch their flight. The only option is to catch an expensive taxi. Its embarrassing and gives the impression that Scotland is a barely developed country. You need to do better than this.
