Al's Variety Store

Wish I had a little more time this morning as I would have taken a few pictures and stayed a few minutes. I was amazed by all the customers that were calling I’m guessing a couple or maybe just family them by their names as well as everyone who was there,the owner’s were calling them each by their names. Not only did they know the names of the customers but they seemed to know about their work. Very nice people great atmosphere with amazing service and attentive attitude. I had looked on line for a breakfast pizza and I not only had a delicious breakfast I got a great start to my day and left smiling . So needless to say I had to google and look up a review site. I wish I could tell you more but I only was there briefly waiting on my pizza. I will definitely be back there as I work in retail and I no longer head south so now I’m going north for work in different stores this will be on the top of my list. And anyone reading this and in the Scarborough area I recommend you stop by and say hello and see for your self

Awesome little store great hot and ready food order something tasty... breakfast/lunch / dinner

Lame italian for 9.45, turkey or ham. Every ingredient of the sandwich is a disappointment. The bread was maybe 9-10 inches long for a large. Poor excuse for a sandwich. It didnt even taste good. Very little meat or anything at that, except a bunch of gross over ripe tomatoes.

I have been buying sandwiches at Al’s since 1987 and have never been disappointed. I like their hot pastrami and cheese and their desserts.

Best lunch in the greater Portland area, just look at their menu and you will see. Everything is super fresh and fast. Breakfast is their famous ham and cheese omlette and lunch is the freshest, tastiest Italian in town. I like mine with lite mayo on the roll and no pickles or olives.

I just got a couple of Italians and a homemade whoppie pie. Everyone was friendly and cheerful. The only reason why I didn't give 5 stars is because there wasn't anything that really wow'd me. It was a typical variety store with the typical sandwiches. The people did make it more special than most. When I get a hankering for an Italian, this is my go to spot

Great for quick food. They do excellent breakfast. Perfect quick in and out with their pre-made breakfast and lunch items.
