Alafia River Canoe Rentals

We just had such a relaxing time kayaking the river here Not only was it beautiful but they keep the prices very affordable at $25 for a canoe and $15 per kayak for ALL DAY, plus we had the honor of meeting and speaking with one of the owners who was one of the sweetest and most easy to talk to ladies ever! When I say she was so inviting I wanted to brew up some coffee and stay for a visit, I’m not kidding! I can’t wait to come back to visit and go out for a paddle again! 10/10 recommend! Make sure to bring a small cooler with drinks and food so you can stop and take breaks along the way and I’m sure you’ll love it just as much as we do! It is cash and check only so make sure to come prepared with one of those payments, and they mostly work with canoes so they only have a few kayaks available. I believe you can bring your own though as well!

We had a blast. I would definitely go up river on the way out and down river on the river on the way back. The water levels are very low in some spots in the dry months January through March ish so you may have to get out and pull the kayak thru. That being said this is Florida. There are gators in the river yall. We saw a 8 footer. That’s just Florida ..Bring plenty of water and many snacks.

Great deal on canoe or kayak rentals! Run and operated by a lovely lady for many many years! Beautiful place to enjoy some river time!!

It's a great place to go. There's so much beautiful scenery along this river. A friend of mine was lucky and found a piece of coral in the river. The lady who runs the rental has been there cents the 60s and I have never heard her say she was ready to give it up. And she always has a smile whenever you see her.

We were looking for an access point that would be easy to launch our gear and the gracious owner of Alafia River Canoe Rental, Sibyll, let us use her dock and grounds for parking. A couple people rented some kayaks from her, but it is, as the name implies, primarily for canoe rentals and the kayak supply is very limited. Sibyll is wonderful! We tipped her well, she was helpful and so kind! The ramp to the dock is steep and a bit rickety and you must watch your step and hold on to the railing. Trust me on that. ; As they don’t do pick up anymore, we went upstream and crossed over 4 river rapids. Very low impact ones, lol. Maybe a 0.2. Plenty of alligator-free river banks can be found for picnic and I was a little surprised by the lack of wildlife. We only saw a few birds and one ! turtle, no gators or anything else. Well, a bunch of dragon flies accompanied our trek. You may have to hoof it through some of the rapids, it’s a good idea to wear solid water shoes to be able to tackle this minor feat. We had a blast paddling up this peaceful and serene river portion!

I cant recommend this place enough!!!!! Very nice and very knowledgeable. U can drop your canoe or kayak off at alderman ford park and drive to Alafia canoe rentals and she will drive you back for 10 bucks. No padding upstream. Made for a 9 mile 4 hour awesome trip down the Alafia. And like I said she was so nice and very knowledgeable. She will definitely go out of her way to make sure u have a great time.

The owner is such an amazing women!!! Great prices for both kayaks and canoes. All day fun for a reasonable rate. Her cats are the best little dock greeters. All around great place!

This place is AWESOME! Nicest and knowledgeable lady who runs it is amazing! She truly finds her joy in helping folks fall in love with canoeing and the Alifia River! The canoe trip is yours for the length or direction. No time limit, no map . Just get in and paddle! Found sharks teeth on a little beach spot, saw beautiful scenery and a gator or 2. Our journey took us through some super fun obstacles and we met some really awesome people! Can’t beat the price either! Highly recommend taking the time to experience this adventure!

It's out of the way a bit and a little confusing to get to but totally worth the effort. The older lady that runs it Sybil has been running it since 1972. She's friendly and will get you outfitted for a great day on the river. If you go early they take you up river and you make your way back to the outfitter shop. Or you can travel downriver and they'll pick you up and bring you back. I got there in the afternoon and she rented me a kayak for $15 to paddle upriver as far and as long as I wanted as long as I got back before dark. The river scenery was beautiful and because the river was a bit high, I got in a nice workout going against the flow around partially submerged trees and branches. I was fortunate to see a couple egrets hunting along the bank during my trip. If you're looking for a no frills good time on the water enjoying the verdant riverside at a great cost, this is the place to go. A+

We had a great time canoeing today. $25 to rent the canoe, we just needed to be back before the sunset. The owner is a very sweet lady! We'll be coming back again with a picnic and our kids.
