We used National. The car was so - so cleaned but had 4 Clorox wipe singles in the glove box. It's the airport so I had to wait for it to be cleaned. Instructions on using these new cars would be nice. My Tahoe was having a heart transplant and we needed a car for human doctors appts. Mom could barely get in bad knees and back bent like a question mark. It would be easier to pick if we had more info on the cars, like how high up from the road they sit, if a wide shouldered driver can drive it comfortably I was miserable and would have went up 2 or 3 notches, the standard holds 5 people isn't useful anymore. I had to figure out that there were buttons by the radio for park, drive, reverse and neutral. All about the magic start button, etc. Played with the seat and really never got it right because I couldn't find the lever to set the steering column right. But I did have to extend a day and wasn't charged for it. No place is perfect. They were nice and tried.
I rented a car at the Daytona airport. Amazing service and very patient staff. I believe I worked with ali. The car was amazing and they gave me a free upgrade!
My experience with Alamo at Daytona Beach Airport went smoothly. I picked up and dropped off during the weekday, so it wasn't crowded at all. During pickup, I was informed that I did not need to pay a deposit which was shocking. During drop-off, I didn’t run into any problems either. Customer service was excellent as well! I will be renting again with Alamo.
We rented a vehicle for a day and we decided we wanted it longer. We got a quote for around $400 then all the sudden it went up to $600 when we wanted a break down the staff wasn’t able to give us all the details and literally said “I don’t know” staff definitely needs to be better trained and fees need to be more be established. We ended up just giving back the rental and ubering because it would be cheaper.
Let me start by saying we had been very loyal Dollar fans until Hertz took them over. We travel a great deal and rent vehicles 20-30 times a year. After a few unpleasant experiences with Dollar recently we decided to give Alamo a try. We reserved a compact car to be picked up at Daytona Beach airport and returned to Orlando's airport the next day. When we went to pick up the car the agent asked if we'd be okay with taking a minivan as she had one that needed to go to Orlando. What a nice vehicle we had and almost wished we were driving it on our entire vacation rather than flying! The rental was flawless. We had a minivan reserved in San Francisco for two weeks, again from Alamo. We took advantage of online check-in this time so completely bypassed the counter, went to a row of 10 minivans, took our choice and we were on our way! When we return to Jacksonville we will be picking up another Alamo vehicle to drive home and return it the next day to Daytona. We have two Alamo cars reserved for a similar vacation next month. Clean cars, excellent condition, friendly service, fair prices--we've found our new go-to rental car company! Go Alamo!
Check in very quick but since the Alamo rep was busy with a customer the National rep took care of us and did not explain the gas options either and we did not realize that she had not until we had left the airport. But we were not charged for the gas we used which was only a quarter of a tank. So overall, service was great and the price I booked on Costco was the price I paid....Love Alamo we always book with them due to pricing and the ability to pick our own car but not at Daytona since the airport is smaller
I have made a reservation online describing the travel needs that I have. Alamo took the reservation and I headed out to the airport to pick up my car. Arrived to the airport and instead of a compact I was offered a 15 seat van. Yay. Wait, that’s not the end of it.. The girl is very unpleasant and hard talking to ALL customers. She almost sounds threatening when she explains customers about insurance and I owned a budget car and truck location - so I know! making sure you understate that even tho you have your own insurance plus the coverage you get from your Credit Card you are still at risk and may be at fault! The nerve on that girl!!! I operated a budget location performing as top seller and never had to talk down to customers they way she does. Last, and most important - to make the experience totally great - I was informed that I can NOT rent the car I reserved since I have no outbound air line ticket form Daytona Beach Airport. All this trip to the air port and back could have been saved if proper information was clearly displayed at time of the online reservation. Regardless, even if that day o would rent the car there is a zero chance I would ever go back there due to the rude unpleasant behavior of the girl at the counter.
We rented from Alamo a few times but they have policies that I didn't find fair. We rented a truck the first time and because we used my wife's card we had to pay an extra fee for me to drive even though we said I would be the only driver I didn't have my card and she didn't feel comfortable driving in a new place. But we paid it and then we booked a car a month and a half in advance but then plans changed and we wouldn't be able to go and trying to cancel the booking over a month in advance we were told too bad, we have to pay a penalty. Like really? I could see if you cancelled the day before but over a month? To a repeat customer? I get that's their policy but I don't have to think that's good business. And the representative on the phone couldn't care less. So, there's other car rental places in the airport, I think we'll use those instead. Fix your policies Alamo.
Thank you Alamo for all your help! My most recent visit to Daytona Beach was aided by Alamo and its ability to provide a rental car for my family's most recent visit. As I am a regular in Daytona Beach, I am able to qualify with you that it was a GOOD experience at the counter with a GOOD car provided by a VERY GOOD Alamo company. I say GOOD because it was just that, GOOD. It wasn't over the top, it wasn't great, it was just GOOD! Which is perfectly acceptable. Even though, I wish there had of been some "surprise and delight" with something better than GOOD being in the mix of the car rental experience more exceptional service, service by making your customer feel valued and important and not just another part of what your person at the counter does every day, all day long. I encourage you that if you want exceptional reviews like in the example you provided, you should do something exceptional in your service or in the car's that you provide for car rental. But if your goal is to deliver an acceptable customer experience, I would say Alamo achieved that goal. That is GOOD, not GREAT and I will continue to look for that company that provides me what I am looking for. Thank you for this opportunity to provide you feedback, Armando.
I rented a car at San Diego. I declined any extra insurance, but it was added to my bill. The manager, Eric Peralta, said he would correct the problem. He did not and will not return my emails. Stay away from this company. I rarely write negative reviews, but I feel cheated.
